Football

Jonesville 20, Columbia Central 8: The Comets improve to 2-4 overall for the season with the road win at CCHS. Jonesville is now 2-3 in Cascades Conference play. CCHS is also 2-4 overall, but 0-4 in the Cascades Conference. Braden Ellison ran for 78 yards and one touchdown and Ben O’Neil added 128 passing yards for CCHS. Jackson Pierse and Nick Richardson combined for 20 tackles for the Golden Eagles.

Volleyball

Grass Lake at D3/4 Volleyball Showdown: The Warriors went 2-3 on the day losing to Adrian Madison in the Silver Bracket final. 

Girls Cross Country

Columbia Central at Clinton: Melyssa McJennett of Columbia Central finished 22nd in 24:59.  

Stockbridge Invitational: Concord High School finished ninth and Northwest was 16th at the Stockbridge Invitational Saturday. Chloe Kohn of NWHS finished eighth overall (19:30) and Hailey Stimer of Concord was 10th (19:42). 

Western, Lumen Christi at DeWitt Invitational: Lumen Christi dominated the Divisions 3/4 competition placing five of the top seven runners in the event. Madison Osterberg (18:01), Samantha Schroeder (19:24), and Macy Fazekas (20:21) finished first through third respectively for the Titans. Western finished fifth in the Divisions 1/2 race with 119 points. Raquel Curey finished 13th in 21:04 for the Panthers. 

Boys Cross Country

Columbia Central at Clinton: Columbia Central High School finished second behind the host school with 62 points. Jack Gorton (18:27), Wyatt Vowell (18:42), and Owen Lambarth (18:44) finished seventh, eighth, and ninth respectively for the Golden Eagles. 

Stockbridge Invitational: East Jackson finished seventh as a team (246), Napoleon placed 11th (340), Jackson Prep was 16th (405), Northwest finished right behind JPEC (407), and Concord finished 23rd (514). Michael Allen of East Jackson finished sixth overall (16:04), teammate Javin Mericle was 14th (16:46), and Napoleon runner Kyler Pequet placed 23rd (17:12). 

Western, Lumen Christi at DeWitt Invitational:  Lumen Christi won the Divisions 3/4 event with 43 points. Isaiah Dinverno won the event in 16:18 and Gannon Shore was sixth with a time of 17:16. Western High School finished second in the Divisions 1/2 event with 67 points. Three runners finished in the top 10 for Western as Edison Lopeman was fifth (16:39), Cooper Singleton was sixth (16:46), and Ryan Good placed ninth (16:58).

Boys Soccer

Tecumseh 3, Columbia Central 2: Columbia Central lost a non-conference match at home Saturday. Tecumseh freshman Chase Batchelder scored the game winning-goal. 

Jackson Christian 6, Calhoun Christian 1: The Royals won under the lights at home Saturday.  Drew Barney scored a hat trick for the Royals in the victory. 

Western 5, Jackson 1: Christian Roza scored a pair of goals and Roarke Watterson, Quentin Eva, and Wittaker Watterson scored singles goals for Western. Jackson scored in the second half on a penalty kick by Jacob Chirackal.

Boys Tennis

Lumen Christi at Catholic High School Championships: The Titans finished runners-up in the Catholic High School League Championship. Luke Tropea won the conference championship at No. 2 singles for Lumen Christi. Doubles finishing second were Luke DuMont/Holden Luce at No. 2 doubles; Maden Brady/Zack Tropea at No. 3 doubles; and Brogan Kelley/Boyer Zimmerman at No. 4 doubles. 

College Sporting Events

Women’s Soccer

Spring Arbor University 6, Goshen 0: Fara Serra and Jocelyn Hendricks both scored a pair of goals for Spring Arbor during its homecoming game. The No. 2 ranked Cougars and defending national champions are now 10-0 overall this season.  

Muskegon Community College 2, Jackson College 1: Frances Parks scored the first goal of the game for JC in the home contest. MCC tied the game before halftime and earned the winning goal with less than 17 minutes remaining in the contest. Katelyn Gasper finished with 11 stops in goal for Jackson College (9-5-1 overall, 6-4-1 MCCAA).  The Jets will travel to Grand Rapids Community College Wednesday for a 2 p.m. start. 

Men’s Soccer

Spring Arbor University 5, Goshen 0: Five different players scored goals for the Cougars in the road win. Matt LeBlanc earned the shutout in goal for SAU with a pair of saves. 

Muskegon Community College 1, Jackson College 0: MCC scored on a penalty kick midway through the first half and it held up in a match at Jackson College. JC Goalie Antonio had a solid day in net giving up only one goal.  The Jets fall back to .500 as they are now 4-4-4 overall and 2-2-1 in the MCCAA. Jackson travels to Grand Rapids Community College Wednesday for a 4 p.m. kickoff.  

Volleyball

Marian 3, Spring Arbor University 1: The Cougars lost in a homecoming matchup Saturday afternoon. Spring Arbor University is now 11-10 overall, 5-5 in conference play. Kendall Bollenbacher finished with 16 kills and 21 digs for Spring Arbor.
