Volleyball

Western 3, Northwest 1: The Panthers improved to 8-0 on the season with a rivalry win over Northwest on the road. Western won 25-22, 25-18, 16-25, 25-16. Hannah Pratt finished with 23 digs, Brynn Rogers dished 33 assists, Hillary Griffin finished with 11 kills, and Delaney Cole recorded nine kills for Western.

Girls Cross country

JPEC Invitational: Lumen Christi Catholic High School dominated the meet taking five of the first six places for 16 points. Madison Osterberg won the girls’ race by more than two minutes with a time of 19 minutes, 7 seconds. Teammate Layla Lopez was second for the Titans at 21:11. Michigan Center finished third with 83 points with Kate Paterson finished 14th in 26:09 and Jackson Prep & Early College runner Olivia Ortell was 12th in 25:59.

Boys Cross Country

JPEC Invitational: Lumen Christi was first with 32 points, Michigan Center was fourth with 90, and Jackson Prep & Early College placed fifth scoring 118 points. Matt Hoop finished third overall for the Titans with a time of 17:46. Teammates Isaiah Dinverno (17:51) and Gannon Shore (17:53) were right behind Hoop. Xander Manzer was 14th for Michigan Center (20:22) and John Yarbrough of JPEC finished 16th (20:52). 

Boys soccer

Michigan Center 5, Columbia Central 1: Carter Kosmet and Nikolas Kosmet scored two goals apiece for Michigan Center in the win. Jaiden Tilford scored the other goal for the Cardinals. Michael VanRiper finished with eight saves for Michigan Center. 

Jackson Christian 4, Blissfield 4  

 

Western 7, Northwest 0:  Marshal Eva scored four goals for the Panthers in a rivalry win Wednesday night. Jeff Palmer added three assists and Peter Ganzel made nine saves in goal for Western (4-0). It was his first career shutout. Northwest falls to 2-4 on the season with the loss. 

Girls golf

Cascades Conference at Grass Lake: Michigan Center won the jamboree at Calderone Golf Club with a score of 198. Grass Lake was second (221), Hanover-Horton finished third (231), Napoleon placed fourth (250), East Jackson was fifth (252), and Addison sixth (293). Kamryn Shannon of MCHS shot a 40 to lead all golfers. Summer Barnaby of Hanover-Horton shot 48, and Addisyn Rudd of East Jackson finished with a 50. 

IGL at Hudson: Concord High School finished second with a team score of 211. Columbia Central was third at 220 at Evergreen Golf Course in Hudson. Faith Moore shot a 48 and Sidney Marshall finished with a 49 for Concord. Logan Bentley shot a 43 for Columbia Central.  

SEC quad at Jackson: Jackson finished second to Saline with a four-man total of 195 at Sharp Park Golf Course. Natalie Kulka shot a 43 and Astella Sharp finished with a 48 for the Vikings. 

Boys tennis

Lumen Christi 4, Harper Creek 4  

Northwest 7, Hastings 1: The Mounties improved to 10-2 overall for the season with the win, 2-1 in the Interstate-8 conference. Austin McCarron, Brogan Buchler, and Elijah Haledane won singles matches at Nos. 2-4 respectively. Northwest swept the doubles matches giving up only eight points in the process. Landon Schroeder/Karson Schroeder won 6-4, 6-0 at No. 1 doubles; Alex Thrun/Drew Maples won 6-0, 6-1 and No. 2 doubles; Lincoln Keathley/Garrett Waldron won 6-1, 6-1 at No. 3 doubles; and Gavin Rush and Kaleb Kittinger-Munro won 6-1, 6-0 at No. 4 doubles for Northwest.
