(September 22, 2021 4:21 PM) Local businessmen Mark Cesarz and Gary Schultz have been friends for more than 40 years.
The two have owned and operated Aspen One Hour Heating and Air Conditioning for 40 years.
But being in business and staying friends doesn’t always go hand and hand in the business world.
Cesarz and Schultz have succeeded at both.
On Tuesday Aspen celebrated its 40th year in business with an open house, free food from local food truck owners from Tasty Spoon, and a number of giveaways.
The two knew one another through playing softball together.
“It was just lucky that we were in the right place at the right time,” Schultz said of the business formation. “For the first 26 years we did a variety of services in heating and cooling.
“The last 14 years we have concentrated on replacement work and service. It has been a great combination.”
The company’s website states, “Our company specializes in designing, engineering, and installing complete comfort systems for owners of existing homes and buildings just like yours. We take special pride in the craftsmen we train and employ – a fact you will notice immediately in the attitude and integrity they bring to your job site. Our entire company works hard to make your experience with us hassle-free and enjoyable.”
The company started in Jackson on First Street in 1981. Aspen has since moved to 4131 W. Michigan Ave.
The company annually gives away furnaces as part of the Heat for the Holidays, a program started nearly 20 years ago.
“Gary and I enjoy it,” Cesarz said. “We normally give away three or four a year but have given as many as 10.
“We have been blessed in this business.”
