Golden Eagles Win On Senior Night

What began as a slow start for Columbia Central ended up as a mercy rule win on senior night on Friday.

The first 14:30 in the opening half started with no goals, even defense by both teams. Both Columbia Central and Dundee each made stops at the goal and defense outside the box. 

But, Columbia Central struck first and ran away with it. Senior Izzy Luna, who will be attending Adrian College, scored the opening goal with 26:30 left. Luna scored on a right-a-way second chance opportunity, making it 1-0 CC.

Alyssa Stewart had a big night for the Lady Golden Eagles, she scored her first goal with 22:25 left in the 1st half. Sophomore Allie Choate scored with 15:56 left in H1, making it 2-0 in favor of Columbia.

The last 14 minutes, Columbia couldn’t connect with the net with Dundee’s defense. But, CC led 3-0 after the first half.

The eagles didn’t look back in the second half, scoring 5 more goals.

Alyssa Stewart scored her 2nd goal just 10 seconds into the half, making it 4-0. Senior Jaden Bates, who had a few missed shots in the first half, got through and made it 5-0 with 38:29 left.

Stewart scored another goal with 34:12 left, for a 6-0 lead. Then, younger sister Lydia Stewart, a sophomore, scored and made it 7-0.

Columbia Central won 8-0 by mercy rule over Dundee on Friday.
