
Grass Lake High School finished third in qualifying for the Michigan High School Athletic Association Division 3 state tournament at JAX 60 Friday.
The Warriors finished with a score of 2,858 for six Baker games and two individual games.
Grass Lake lost to Flint Powers Catholic 3-2 in the opening round of the stepladder.
Cascades Conference foes Michigan Center finished 14th overall scoring 2,454 in qualifying.
Napoleon placed 10th in qualifying in the boys’ D-3 competition scoring 3,194 pins. The Pirates were near the top in qualifying with Baker games of 215 and 228, but individual games total of 794 moved Napoleon out of the top eight.
Grass Lake boys finished 13th with a team score of 3,091.
Division 4 at Muskegon: Lumen Christi made the top eight in the girls’ competition scoring 2,538. The Titans lost to Ravena – the eventual champions – in the opening round 3.5 – 1.5. Hanover-Horton finished 16th overall scoring 2,199. In the boys’ competition, Lumen Christi qualified third scoring 3,241. Lumen Christi won its opening round against Bronson (3-2) but lost to Jonesville 3.5-1.5 in the quarterfinals.
