(April 5, 2021 10:32 PM) Grass Lake High School girls’ basketball Coach Andrea Cabana described her team’s performance during the Michigan High School Athletic Association Division 3 quarterfinal game “business-like.”

Get in, get the job done, and go home. 

The Warriors defeated Columbia Central High School for the second time this season with a 49-36 win at Ypsilanti Lincoln High School on Monday. With the victory, Grass Lake will advance to the Breslin Student Event Center on the campus of Michigan State University on Wednesday to face Hemlock (14-8) in the Division 3 Final Four. 

The state semifinal is scheduled to start at 10 a.m. 

“This is the first trip for our school, our community, and those girls,” Cabana said. “This is something we have talked about for three years.

“They (the players) are staying the course and staying focused.”

Senior Abrie Cabana scored 13 points in the first quarter and finished with 19 points for Grass Lake to lead all scorers. 

Gabrielle Lutchka scored 11 points and Lexus Bargesser added 10 points for Grass Lake (18-1).

The Warriors jumped out to a 29-14 lead in the first half. 

CCHS (16-4) was led by Zoie Bamm with 15 points and Taiya Fletcher with eight points. 

Division 2 at Chelsea High School: Western High School advances to the Final Four in Division 2 with a 53-50 win over Ann Arbor Gabriel Richard on Monday night. The Panthers will face Portland (18-2) in the D-2 semifinal at Van Andel Arena on Wednesday beginning at approximately 5:30 p.m. Western is making its first Final Four appearance in school history and enters the game with an 18-4 record.
