Last year: 2-7 overall
An unusual off year for Grass Lake has motivated the team to turn it around in the offseason before they step onto the field in 17 days. “Nothing is gonna be handed to us. We gotta put in the work in the offseason and get better every day” said one of the players at JTV Sports media day.
Despite all starters returning on both sides of the ball, the Warriors will still have a weakness spot, depth on the roster. Beyond the starters, Grass Lake and Head Coach Randy Cole will still need all guys within the program to step up to create that depth.
Grass Lake has 10 players returning on offense including All-Conference and All-Region star player, Andrew Stockton (senior/Running Back). Other starters include Josh Claussen, Jack Reid, and Jeffrey Peterson.
The Warriors also have all 11 returning on defense including Jack Reid (junior/Linebacker) and Braelon Carr (senior/DLine). Other expected newcomers for Grass Lake include Bryant Cook, Stack Suliman, and Robby Anderson, who should see the field more in the 2022 campaign.
Coach Randy Cole’s primary focus for camp and the upcoming season is to just be prepared. “We have to get prepared to play winning football and bounce back from last year”, said Cole.
Some of the toughest games on the schedule for Grass Lake include Napoleon and Addison (2021 conference champion).
The team will be following a motto of RRR (Relentless, Rest, Repeat) for the 2022 comeback campaign. “Play with a higher speed, get after it every time. Take time to evaluate and get it right” said Coach Cole. Coach Randy Cole will be entering his 22nd season at the helm for Grass Lake and hopes to bring another winning season with a trip back to the playoffs for the community.
