The Jackson Gus Macker 3 on 3 Basketball Tournament begins Friday evening in Downtown Jackson and runs through Sunday late afternoon. This year there are 209 teams (836 players) signed up, a big increase from last year’s 130 teams and 516 players.
The festivities begin on Friday evening at 6 PM with the CNB Heroes Tournament. This tournament features local law enforcement, emergency responders and veterans and is sponsored by County National Bank. Games continue all day Saturday and Sunday.
On Friday evening, the regular Downtown Jackson Cruise In will be held, but the location is shifting to Pearl Street (behind the Hayes building), Hayes Court, West Michigan Avenue (in front of Hayes and Carnegie buildings, North Jackson Street (in front of P&T Fitness and Gilbert Chocolates). The city parking lot behind Lofts on Louis will also include cruisers.
John Louis Good and the Rose City Troubadours will be the evening’s featured entertainment, 7 PM to 9 PM, at CP Federal City Square in Horace Blackman Park.
Food trucks and vendors will be located within and around Horace Blackman Park beginning Friday through Sunday.
This year, the Lyle Torrant Center will be receiving a donation with the majority of proceeds from the event, as will the volunteer groups from Napoleon High School, Vandercook Lake High School, and the RoseQueen Scholarship Pageant.
