(January 15, 2020 5:24 PM) Henry Ford Allegiance Health and the Jackson County Health Department have increased their vaccine distribution and plan to expand further once more vaccine is available. To date, 6,156 doses of vaccine have been administered in Jackson County.

Both organizations’ vaccination clinics have focused on the first priority groups, which includes health care workers and essential frontline workers. Long-term care facilities, home to many of our most vulnerable citizens, are also a top priority. A federal partnership with CVS and Walgreens has identified 86 congregate living settings in Jackson, including nursing homes, assisted living, adult foster cares and retirement communities. This partnership offers on-site vaccination, through visits from the identified pharmacies, to the 4,600 residents and staff of these facilities.

The health department has created a survey CLICK HERE  to help individuals and businesses identify their priority group classification. Following completion of the survey, individuals will learn their priority group and receive an email notification once vaccine appointments are available. Those identified by the survey as Phase 1B businesses will also be notified once scheduling is available for their employees. Phase 1B includes food and agriculture workers, critical manufacturing workers, public transit, grocery, USPS and workers with unique skill sets, such as non-hospital laboratories and mortuary services.

Henry Ford Health System patients are encouraged to confirm they have a Henry Ford MyChart account to facilitate notification of vaccine availability and to schedule an appointment. If you are a Henry Ford patient without a MyChart account, you can easily sign up with your MRN number. Additional vaccine information is available on HenryFord.com.

The Jackson County Health Department has created a flyer (below) to answer the community’s most commonly asked questions: Am I eligible? Where do I go? How do I Sign up? Further information can be found on the Jackson County Health Department COVID vaccine webpage and JCHD Facebook page.

Local vaccine updates are also available by calling the COVID Vaccine Information Line at (517) 817-4469. For information about vaccine locations, shipments to providers, doses administered and vaccine prioritization, visit Michigan.gov/COVIDVaccine.

Henry Ford Allegiance Health and Jackson County Health Department look forward to increasing appointment availability once additional vaccine supply is available.
