(8-6-2025, 10:00AM): After finishing 8-2 in the 2024 season with a Cascades Conference championship appearance and playoff appearance, the Hanover Horton Comets look to build off their success with this year’s group.

HC David Messer is returning for his 4th year with the Comets. “This is the best summer I’ve seen so far since being with this program,” said Messer.

The Comets will return 5-6 starters on offense and eight on defense.

Key returners include Sophomore RB Austyn Hocter (all-state in 2024), seniors Adam Ley (LB/TE), Reed Matthews (OL/DL), AJ Fielder (RB/LB), and Weston Dick (OL/DL).

Newcomers and other players expected to make an impact include juniors Devin Bevier (QB), JJ Russ (RB/DB) and Kolin Griffiths (RB/DB).

Hanover Horton will also have a new offensive coordinator for the 2025 season. Clark Vinton has taken over the duties. Vinton was a former HH quarterback and also played collegiately for Olivet College.

Goals for the 2025 season include winning the program’s first ever playoff game and getting back to the Cascades championship.

“We want to be the most physical team in the conference” said the players when sharing their season goals. “Play for the love, not the game. We might be the smallest team on the field, but you have to bring consistent energy and physicality”.
