I-94 Design-Build Project Update: Traffic Shifts on I-94 and US-127/M-50

(March 30, 2021 3:52 PM) Last week, crews continued building temporary shoulder widenings and the new westbound I-94 bridge over West Avenue. Clearing has also been occurring throughout the project. Additionally, crews tackled a large peat excavation and swamp backfill operation where the new westbound I-94 roadway will be near the US-127/M-50 interchange.

During the coming weeks, the contractor will continue building the new bridge and begin temporary paving along eastbound I-94 and northbound US-127/M-50. Additionally, they will begin shifting traffic at the end of this week to build the median crossovers that will be used for future maintenance of traffic on I-94 and US-127/M-50.

Traffic maintenance for this upcoming week will involve the northbound US-127/M-50 ramp to westbound I-94 being closed, as well as one lane closed on northbound US-127/M-50 from Sparks Street to Springport Road. Shoulder closures with a reduced speed zone will be in place along eastbound and westbound I-94 from Airport Road to Dettman Road.
