(May 2, 2020 10:54 AM) Each year, Jackson College recognizes the importance of its employees with annual employee awards. Presented virtually this year, Jackson College congratulates the winner of the 2020 Outstanding Administrator Award, Kelly Crum.
Kelly Crum loves working with people. An alumna of the College, she enjoys the opportunity to give back to today’s students and create a caring community.
As a student, she studied corrections and, with a passion for working with people, she transferred to Spring Arbor College to earn her bachelor’s degree in sociology. She worked with youth at Starr Commonwealth in Albion, and she came to love helping young people. Crum has also worked with the Substance Abuse Prevention Agency, been a health educator and cheerleading coach.
Crum returned to Jackson College in 2013. In her position as director of multicultural affairs, she oversees student groups the Men of Merit and Sisters of Strength, helps to coordinate the Student Multicultural Center and assists in administering programs for the diverse student population and overall student success.
“I love everything about my job from the relationships I have with the students, collaborating with my colleagues (administration, faculty and staff) on a daily basis and being able to provide insight as we serve students. I am in awe of our Jackson College family; we are Jackson College Strong!”
Active in the community, she was recognized by the Jackson Club of the National Association of Negro Business and Professional Women’s Clubs, Inc., with Special Recognition of the Year honors in 2014. In 2015 she received the Sisters in Ministry Mrs. Elnora V. Moorman Dignity and Determination Award.
Kelly is married to her husband, Derrick. She has two adult sons and five grandchildren.
