(October 21, 2024 10:33 AM ET) Join the Jackson College/Community Concert Band for a spectacular evening of music as the nearly 80-member ensemble presents a free concert, “Players’ Choice,” on Tuesday, Oct. 22, at 7 p.m. in Harold Sheffer Music Hall, located in the Potter Center on the Jackson College campus.
In this special performance, the band members themselves have selected the program, which includes a diverse range of musical pieces. Concertgoers can expect to hear classics like Gustav Holst’s Jupiter, Julie Giroux’s Burning the Wicker Man, Frank Ticheli’s emotional An American Elegy, and John Philip Sousa’s lively march Fairest of the Fair. The program will also feature exciting new arrangements of folk songs, music inspired by online gaming, and a special mini-set by Jackson College’s very own Jazzy Jets ensemble.
Don’t miss this unique opportunity to hear what the musicians have chosen to perform! The concert is free and open to the public.
The Jackson College/Community Concert Band is comprised of Jackson College students as well as community members, under the direction of Dan Bickel, professor of music.
