(January 4, 2022 10:52 AM)  Jackson College announced today the postponement of the Martin Luther King, Jr. Celebration to the spring.  Jackson College said they have made the difficult decision due to the increased cases of Covid throughout Jackson County. In a message, Kelly Crum, Chief Diversity Officer and Director of Diversity, Equity, & Belonging said, “Jackson College is committed to keeping employees and guests safe.”

The annual celebration had been scheduled for Jan. 15, 2022. Tickets will be honored for the upcoming spring event; those who cannot make the spring event, refunds will be given. 

Late last year, Jackson College announced Monica Pierce, a longtime educator and Jackson resident will receive the 2022 Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Medal of Service Award. Monica Pierce is Principal of Instruction at Jackson High School.

The keynote speaker announced for the event is Paula Autry, senior vice president and chief executive officer of Henry Ford Health System’s Central Market and president and CEO of Henry Ford Allegiance Health.   

A date will be forthcoming to honor the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
