Five area schools unveiled their food sculptures today at ART 634 in the first annual Jackson Community Food Pantry sculpture competition. This weekend, gallery visitors can vote for their favorite sculpture by donating money to the pantry. Schools competing include Northwest, Jackson Preparatory & Early College, Jackson Christian School; Jackson Area Career Center’s JROTC and Agriscience programs. Students from the five schools designed and built the sculptures using non-perishable food items that students collected. The sculptures, along with donations, will be donated to the Jackson Community Food Pantry. The gallery is open for voting on Saturday and Sunday from 12 Noon to 4pm at ART 634’s main gallery at 634 North Mechanic Street in Jackson. The winning school, to be announced at the end of the exhibit, will receive the custom trophy (below).
