(April 13, 2021 3:13 PM) The Jackson County Health Department released the COVID-19 positive numbers for Jackson County.  As of 12:00 PM today, there are 12,528 positive cases (cumulative), and 237 deaths (cumulative)*.

There are 169 new cases and 1 new death since yesterday’s report.

Cumulative recovered, as of April 13: 9,691**

According to Matthew Budd,  Director of Personal and Preventive Health Services, the Department is following the CDC and FDA’s recommendation to pause J&J vaccine administration.  After 6.8 million J&J vaccine administrations in the US, there have been 6 cases of blood clots that are potentially linked to the J&J vaccine.  Budd says the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP) will be meeting tomorrow to review the cases, look for common variables that may have led to these blood clots after J&J vaccine administration.

The Department did not have any J&J vaccine clinics scheduled but have had discussions with their partners who do and they have paused use of that vaccine until more guidance is received.  Most will be able to still have their clinic but will be administering a different vaccine.

As of April 8, there are 61 persons at Henry Ford Allegiance Health being treated as inpatients for COVID-19.

The cumulative numbers posted on Mondays include the data from Sunday and Monday.  Recovered numbers are being posted as received.

The Michigan Department of Corrections is reporting as of 4:10 PM April 2, there are 5,147 confirmed positive cases at Jackson facilities and 639 confirmed positive staff cases.  MDOC positive case numbers are cumulative.

Note:  Jackson County will post COVID-19 data daily by mid-afternoon, Monday-Saturday, keeping with the schedule established by the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS).
