Jackson County Cumulative Report: 6,366 COVID-19 Positive Cases and 114 Deaths

(December 11, 2020 12:00 PM) The Jackson County Health Department released the COVID-19 positive numbers for Jackson County. As of 12 PM today, there are 6,366 positive cases (cumulative), and 114 deaths (cumulative)*.

There are 142 new cases since yesterday’s report.

Cumulative recovered, as of December 11, 2020: 2,720**

The cumulative numbers posted on Mondays include the data from Sunday and Monday. Recovered numbers are being posted as received.

The Michigan Department of Corrections is reporting as of 4 PM December 4, there are 2,960 confirmed positive cases at Jackson facilities and 350 confirmed positive staff cases. MDOC positive case numbers are cumulative.

As of 9 AM December 11, there 61 persons at Henry Ford Allegiance Health being treated as inpatients for COVID-19.

Note: Jackson County will post COVID-19 data daily by mid-afternoon, Monday-Saturday, keeping with the schedule established by the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS). The cumulative numbers posted on Monday will include the data from Sunday and Monday. Recovered numbers are being posted as received. Epicurve data and Township maps are also posted on Mondays by 3:30 PM.

Information regarding increase in COVID deaths from Jackson County Health Department:

“Through November the State of Michigan saw an unprecedented surge in COVID-19 cases. The surge in cases and information being poured into the statewide COVID-19 database resulted in changes to how the Jackson County Health Department ran their data reports; as a result, our county website data did not adequately capture the number of deaths that we had in our county during the month of November. The data now reflects the additional deaths that occurred in the month of November.

Please note that the additional deaths did not occur from one singular outbreak and that the circumstances surrounding each death are unique. Our team continued to respond to COVID-19 requests from individuals and congregate care settings and continued to get updates from medical examiners and the state when deaths did occur in the county; it is only on the data reporting side of our COVID-19 strategy that we missed updating this information.
