Baseball

Northwest 5, Algonac 2: Will Herman earned the pitching win for Northwest allowing only two hits and no runs in five innings of work. Gage Race had a pair of hits for the Mounties. 

Northwest 7, Leslie 3:  JR Morrow hit two home runs and knocked in four runs in the championship game of the Leslie Invitational. Alex Thrun knocked in two runs for the Mounties (8-3-1). 

Skyline 18, Jackson 2: The Vikings scored two runs with no hits in a home loss to Skyline. 

Skyline 17, Jackson 1: Michael Kirby had one hit and knocked in the only run for Jackson (9-5). 

Lumen Christi 9, Manchester 4: The Titans had 15 hits in the win as Max McCluskey, Jackson Kremer, and Charlie Konkle each recorded three hits. 

Lumen Christi 13, Manchester 3: Cooper Keane had two hits and knocked in three runs for the Titans in the road win. Garrett Swan had two hits and knocked in two runs and Cooper Cumberworth was the winning pitcher for LCCHS with six strikeouts. 

Clinton 13, Michigan Center 7: The Cardinals recorded 12 hits in the loss. Allen Whitmill, Noah Mast, Alex Hunt, and Joe Poynter all recorded two hits for Michigan Center (5-3). 

Softball

Napoleon Invitational: Napoleon earned a split at the Leslie Invitational on Saturday. The Pirates lost 3-2 to the host school in the opening round. Elisse Omey had one hit and two RBIs and Raye Burke struck out 11 batters in the game. Kaylee Smith was the hero for Napoleon in the championship game with an RBI single in the bottom of the eighth inning for the win against Fowlerville. Smith finished the game with two hits and two RBIs and Karson Fairbanks had three hits for Napoleon (14-2).

East Jackson at Stockbridge Invitational: East Jackson went 1-2 on the day defeating the host school 12-3, before losing to Stockbridge 10-6 and Bad Axe 7-6. Emily Uyttenhove and Savana Stewart each had four hits against Onsted. Addison Hendricks knocked in four runs and hit a home run. Aubree Bell earned the pitching win for EJHS. Stockbridge scored six times in the second inning in game two for East Jackson. The Trojans scored four times in the bottom of the seventh inning, but could not complete the comeback. Bell had three hits for the Trojans against Stockbridge. Stewart had three hits for East Jackson in the loss to Bad Axe. 

Northwest at Ann Arbor Invitational: Northwest defeated Milford (2-1), Utica Ford (8-0), and Millington (7-2) to win the Michigan Stars Tournament. Nevaeh Ingram had a hit and an RBI in the win over Milford. Cora Pilaczynski was the winning pitcher for Northwest against Milford. Ingram had a home run and drove in three runs in the win over Utica Ford. Campbell Kloack and Maddy Rowley each had three hits against Utica. The Mounties scored three runs in the fifth inning to break open a close game against Millington – ranked No. 3 in Division 3. Kloack and Grace Pilaczynski each had a pair of hits for NWHS in the win. The Mounties are 16-0 on the season.  

Western Invitational: Ashley Sturgill hit a three-run homer in the eighth inning giving Western a come-from-behind 6-4 win against Bronson at the Western Invitational. Hailey Whisman pitched all eight innings striking out 15 batters for Western. The Panthers had an easier time defeating Sand Creek 12-5 in the championship game. Western scored nine times in the first three innings against the Aggies. Sturgill continued her hot hitting with three hits in the contest. Riley Kubiak and Abby Stoetzel had two hits apiece in the contest for Western (12-2). The Panthers are on a 12-game winning streak since losing its first two games of the season to Napoleon. 

Track and field

Leslie Invitational: East Jackson High School finished third in both the boys’ and girls’ competitions. Michael Allen finished third in the boys’ 1,600-meter run (5:08) for East Jackson. Brynn Mericle won three events for EJHS with wins in the 200-meter dash (28.14), the 100-meter hurdles (16.8), and the 300-meter hurdles (51.88). Teammate Kaitlyn Pilch won the 100-meter dash (14.01) and the 400-meter dash (1:03). 

Girls soccer

Columbia Central 0, Adrian 0: The Golden Eagles battled Adrian in a defensive showdown. CCHS is 6-2-1 for the season. 

Jackson 7, Lansing Everett 0: Abby Hunt and Rylie Dubois scored two goals apiece for Jackson. Sydney Langley had two assists and Rylee DeMann and Delaney Jones earned the shutout in goal for Jackson (4-2-1). 

Michigan Center, Springport at Stockbridge Invitational: Michigan Center split two matches, defeating Brighton Charyl Stockwell 4-3 and losing to Springport 6-1 in the championship game. Cecelia Scaife had three goals and Lydia Meyer scored one goal for MCHS against Brighton. Nicola Wittkopf had six saves in net for the Cardinals. Julia Reynolds scored the only goal for the Cardinals (3-3-1) in the Springport game. Springport defeated the host school 8-0 in the opening round.

Boys golf

Lumen Christi at Bedford Invitational: Lumen Christi finished 14th at the Bedford Valley Open, scoring 356. Charlie Saunders shot an 86, Adam Fuller finished with an 88, Nash Hanchett scored 89, and Anthony Johnstone scored a 93.  

Girls tennis

Lumen Christi at Grosse Ille: Lumen Christi defeated Grosse Ille 5-3, but lost to Grosse Pointe North 6-2. Olivia Eaker, Michaela Hauer, and Genevieve Brawner all earned singles wins against Grosse Ille. Lauren Craft/Alexa Thompson and Lily Melnick/Ella Melatich earned doubles’ wins in the same match. Hauer and  LexieThornhill/Maggie Lefere earned wins against Grosse Pointe North. 

Western tri-meet: Western finished first with 12 points in the three-team meet at Western. Edwardsburg was second with 10 points and St. Clair finished with one point. Maddie Miles finished 2-0 on the day at No. 3 singles for Western. Bella Brushaber/Emma Reed, Teagan Robertson/Leslie Kinder, and Dru Porter/Gabi Davis finished 2-0 for Western at Nos. 2-4 doubles. The Panthers are 6-3 overall for the season.
