The Jackson Masters will be open to more golfers when the tournament’s 71st edition is played June 1-2 at the Country Club of Jackson.
In an effort to encourage greater participation, the Jackson Golf Committee announced that the tournament will for the first time be open to golfers who are not Jackson County residents. Those living outside the county can enter if they meet one of three criteria: They graduated from a Jackson County high school or college; previously played in a Jackson Masters or City Championship; or are employed in the county. In addition, there is no longer a handicap limit.
The 36-hole stroke play event will have a cut to the low 25 and ties after the first round. Entry fee is $75, or $30 for high school students. Entry forms are available at the Country Club of Jackson, Cascades, Sharp Park, and Arbor Hills pro shops, and registration can be made on-line at jacksongolf.net. Entry deadline is May 29 at 5 p.m.
