Jackson College Athletic Director Heather Bateman has been named the 2018-19 Michigan Community College Athletic Director of the Year. The Athletic Director of the Year committee selected Bateman from several nominees.

Heather Bateman, Jackson College’s Athletic Director, has been named the 2018-19 Michigan Community College Athletic Director of the Year. The Athletic Director of the Year committee selected Bateman from several nominees. Bateman oversees an athletic department that has 13 successful sports including men’s bowling that won the MCCAA Championship in their very first season.

The women’s soccer team was second in the in the MCCAA and won the NJCAA Region XII regular season and post-season title. Bateman also holds several sports chairs in the MCCAA and is the secretary/treasurer for NJCAA Region XII, according to a Jackson College press release. She also hosted the MCCAA Golf and MCCAA Baseball Tournament this spring. 

“I am honored and humbled to receive this award. I could not have received it without all the support of our coaches and student-athletes who inspire me daily,” Bateman said

The MCCAA Athletic Director of the Year is awarded yearly, to the athletic director who excels at their job in several criteria, as judge by the MCCAA Athletic Director of the Year committee. 

Bateman has served as athletic director at Jackson College since 2013.
