(June 26, 2023 4:35 PM ET) On June 27, the Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) will close Jackson Street while reopening parallel Blackstone Street with a new at-grade railroad crossing. This work is part of a project to simultaneously replace century-old Jackson and Mechanic street railroad bridges in early August.
Jackson Street will close on June 27. Mechanic, Detroit, and Van Buren streets will remain closed through the end of the project. Motorists should follow the posted detours.
The project is estimated to be completed by Saturday, Sept. 30, 2023.
