(September 15, 2023 1:34 PM ET) Ella Sharp Museum announced today the appointment of Jeremy Frew as its new Executive Director. In a press release, the Museum said Frew, a long-time Jackson resident, brings to the museum over 17 years of mission-driven leadership experience and a proven record of success in community collaboration, strategic planning and team building.

With the help of Linda Brian and Tony Hollow of Executive Staff and Coaching, the board began its search in late July, evaluating more than 10 qualified candidates. “We had an incredible pool of talent, which made selecting the right person for the position difficult – but a good problem to have!” said Andy Merritt, President of the Ella Sharp Museum Board of Directors. “Jeremy is an exceptional leader who will serve with the best interests of all museum stakeholders, staff, and community members as his priority. We are very lucky to have him.”

Frew, who is transitioning from his role as the Chief Academic and Student Services Officer of Jackson College said, “I’m absolutely delighted to become a part of the Ella Sharp Museum, and I’m eagerly anticipating the beginning of my new role. The museum’s mission and its steadfast adherence to its values were the driving factors that attracted me to this institution. Throughout the interview process, I was deeply impressed by the unwavering dedication of both the staff and the board to serving our community. I’m excited about the prospect of collaborating with this highly committed team of professionals.”

“We know he’ll bring strong leadership and passion to The Ella. With his commitment to excellence and innovation, Jeremy is well-positioned to steer our museum toward continued growth and success,” said Merritt.

The release stated the board and staff have dedicated themselves to the Museum’s mission and are excited to continue its rich traditions alongside Frew, creating new, vibrant and exciting experiences for everyone in the community. Merritt noted, “Ella Sharp Museum is a significant asset, and we can’t wait to see how Jeremy will strengthen its ties to our community and surrounding area. The staff and board are excited for the next chapter in The Ella’s evolution and know our stakeholders and members are, too.”

The Museum noted Frew will begin his new role at the start of a busy fall season. A new, hands-on exhibit called Tossed and Found opened this past week, the final Patio Party of the summer series is Thurs., Sept. 28, and the gallery celebration of Dominic Pangborn, a nationally renowned artist and Jackson native, begins on Thursday, October 5.

Frew replaces Julie Johnson as Executive Director.  Johnson left the Museum in July.
