(June 4, 2021 12:21 PM) Jackson College announced today Jets softball and baseball team members are receiving honors following the spring sports season.    Individual awards from the Michigan Community College Athletic Association (MCCAA) for the 2021 season are:

 Softball

         Emily Breslin, Stockbridge; All-Region, All-MCCAA Team, First Team All-Conference, All-Freshman Team

         Addison Hudson, Monroe; First Team All-Conference, All-Freshman Team

         Paige Thomson, Richmond; Second Team All-Conference

         Savannah Kirk, Holland, OH; Second Team All-Conference

         Sydney Medina, Bridgeport; Second Team All-Conference

         Kylee Yon, Goodrich; Second Team All-Conference

“While the season didn’t end the way we had hoped, it is nice that we had so many players earn conference honors. Five of the six players earning honors will be returning next season,” said Coach Jamie Vandenburgh. “Sydney Medina and Kylee Yon are sophomores and Sydney will be taking advantage of the additional year of eligibility to complete her allied health program at Jackson College.

“After coming within one run of the national tournament this year, I know the team will come back with some energy and fire!”

Baseball

·         Devon Nettles, Richmond; All-Region, All-MCCAA Team, All-Eastern Conference First Team, All-Freshman Team

·         Justin Gelso, Ida; All-MCCAA Team, All-Eastern Conference First Team, All-Freshman Team

·         Dawson Groch, Cedar Park, TX; All-Eastern Conference Second Team

·         Alexander Billo, Winter Haven, FL;  All-Eastern Conference Second Team

·         Brendon Moran, Marysville; All-Eastern Conference Second Team

·         Teddy Wagner, Toledo, OH; MCCAA Eastern Conference Honorable Mention

·         Michael Tchavdarov, Warren; MCCAA Eastern Conference Honorable Mention

·         Riley Vermander, Chesterfield; MCCAA Eastern Conference Second Team 

“When you have a good season you get rewarded with a lot of post season awards,” said Coach Rick Smith. “I am very happy with the team’s year, and like we always say, you are expected to win at Jackson. Now let’s get on with 2022!”
