Jackson College Jets softball finished their season with a new program record for wins and a heartbreaking 11th-inning loss in the regional tournament.

The Jets end the season 37-15 and set a new program record for wins. In their semi-final game in the NJCAA Region XII Championship, they were tied 2-2 with the Lansing Community College Stars from the sixth inning on, pushing the game to extra innings. Lansing scored in the bottom of the 11th inning to overtake the Jets 3-2, ending their season.

“I am proud of this group’s accomplishments and look forward to seeing this program continue to grow!” said coach Jamie Vandenburgh.

Several Jets players receive season honors:

Allison LaPoint, pitcher, All-Tournament Team; All-Region, All-MCCAA Team; First Team All-Conference. LaPoint, of Holland, Ohio, pitched 16 wins and 5 losses in 25 appearances for the Jets this year, with a 2.13 ERA in 135 innings. She struck out 127 players.

Koryn Playford, second-base/utility, First Team All-Conference; All-Freshman Team. Playford, of Jonesville, played in 52 games this year and had a batting average of .418, with 55 runs, 39 RBI and 2 home runs.

Sabrina Sage, outfielder, Second Team All-Conference. Sage, of Clio, played in 52 games and had have a batting average of .414, scoring 66 runs and 43 RBI.

Haley Rose, outfielder, Second Team All-Conference. Rose, of Napoleon, played in 48 games and had a .347 batting average, scoring 42 runs, 47 RBI and 7 home runs. Rose, a sophomore and recent graduate of JC, has committed to Siena Heights University for next year to continue playing softball.

Olivia Darmos, utility, Honorable Mention All-Conference. Darmos, of Ypsilanti, played in 52 games and had a .342 batting average, scoring 50 runs, 47 RBC and 4 home runs.

Devyn DeMello, utility/pitcher, Honorable Mention All-Conference. DeMello, of Holt, played in 50 games and had a batting average of .335, with 37 runs, 32 RBI and 1 home run.

Hailey Roy, pitcher, Honorable Mention All-Conference. Roy, of Grass Lake, pitched 9 wins and 7 losses for the Jets in 28 appearances, with a 3.19 ERA in 101 innings pitched. She struck out 96 players.

Madison Spataro, pitcher, Honorable Mention All-Conference. Spataro, of Amherst, Ohio, pitched 11 wins and 3 losses in 18 appearances for the Jets this year, with an ERA of 4.67 in 72 innings pitched. She struck out 96 players.
