(November 2, 2020 4:40 PM) Jackson Public Schools has announced that beginning tomorrow, Tuesday, November 3, 2020, all JPS students will switch to online learning.  This switch is due in part to a positive COVID-19 staff member at JHS.  This staff member was in the building this past week and was in contact with not only students but staff members as well.  JPS quarantined ten staff members and thirty students from both Cohorts A & B. This new case, combined with the recent switch to online learning at Parkside due to a positive staff case, and the large number of younger siblings who attend JPS’s six elementary schools requires this districtwide to make this change for this week. Students will return to in-person learning on Monday, November 9, 2020.   All JPS students will utilize online learning models.

JPS will continue to monitor the situation and if any additional positive cases occur, JPS will assess the situation and be in touch with families and staff.

At this time COVID-19 numbers are rising in our community, across the state, and around the world.  Our community needs to remain diligent in its mask-wearing, hand washing, and social distancing practices.  Our ability to offer in-person learning is directly related to the actions we take outside of our school buildings to slow and contain the virus.  Let us all do our part to keep our families safe” said Jeff Beal, JPS Superintendent.
