JTV Jackson County Scoreboard for Sept. 10

Volleyball

Cascades Quad at VCL: Jonesville defeated Vandercook Lake 3-0 on the road Tuesday. Columbia Central lost to Addison in the opening round and then defeated the Jayhawks 3-0 in the second match. Mara Henry had a big night for CCHS with 21 kills, 16 assists, and seven blocks. Alison Richardson recorded 34 assists and 30 digs, and Kolie Brown added nine kills and three blocks.

Manchester Quad: Napoleon defeated Homer 3-0, but lost to Hanover-Horton 25-12, 25-18, and 25-22. Emma Darnell finished with 19 digs, Gracie Tallman added 19 kills, and Kate Fall dished 44 assists for Napoleon. Alivia Warner finished with 13 kills for Homer. Hanover-Horton also defeated Manchester 3-1 in the quad meet.

Concord 3, Quincy 0: The Yellowjackets won 25-21, 25-20, and 25-15 on the road in Big Eight Conference action. Iyla Weeks finished with 21 kills, Bradie Lehman finished with 26 assists,          and Annie Saenz was 15-for-17 serving with two aces for Concord (6-3 overall, 1-0 Big 8).

Jackson Christian 3, Tekonsha 0: The Royals won 25-11, 26-16, and 25-20 at home Tuesday. Madi Conrad and Johannah Loew both finished with six kills and Rennie Huff added five aces for Jackson Christian.

East Jackson Quad: Grass Lake defeated East Jackson and Michigan Center in three sets. Mia Buttigieg dished 59 assists and scored 17 points at the service line. Reese Lape and Addalyn Hensen each recorded 10 kills for the Warriors.

Boys Cross Country

Eaton Rapids Invitational: Aidan Bradley of Springport finished sixth in the freshman/sophomore race (19:56). Maddox Hutchinson of Concord took 14th place in the junior/senior race (19:27). For more information go to www.athletic.net/CrossCountry/meet/236949/info.

Leslie Invitational: Homer High School finished fifth (135), Jackson Prep was sixth (150), and Michigan Center placed ninth (246) at the Leslie Invitational. Jonesville won the event as Caleb Blonde won the event for the Comets with a time of 16:39. John Elder of Homer was fourth (16:59), Corey Dubnicki of JPEC was 19th (19:22), and Brayden Pepper of Michigan Center placed 33rd (21:25). I-8 at Harper Creek: Marshall High School won the first Interstate-8 Conference jamboree at Harper Creek. Jack Bidwell of Marshall won the event and Edison Lopeman of Western was second in 16:26. Marshall and Western took five of the top spots in the meet. Drew Clingerman of Northwest finished 18th in 18:52. Girls Cross Country

Eaton Rapids Invitational: Mya Barrett of Concord finished eighth in the freshman/sophomore race in 24:19. Chloey Speed of Springport placed ninth in the junior/senior race in 27:21. For more information and times go to www.athletic.net/CrossCountry/meet/236949/info.

Leslie Invitational: The Blackhawks easily won the event with 23 points as Hailey Creisher won the 5K by nearly a minute with a time of 19:15. Jackson at Lincoln: Grace Brown finished 32nd in the first Southeastern Conference jamboree in a time of 21:49 for Jackson. For more information go to www.athletic.net/CrossCountry/meet/238311/info.

I-8 at Harper Creek: Western High School edged Marshall 43-46 at the first Interstate-8 Conference jamboree. Raquel Curey of Western finished third and teammate Bertha Quiroga finished seventh in 22:13. Julia Faber of Harper Creek won the event in 20:47, Leah McPartlin of Marshall was second (21:27), and teammate Alaina Dillon finished fourth (21:56). Boys Soccer

Hastings 6, Northwest 0: Northwest was shut out in Interstate-8 Conference action at home.

Marshall 2, Western 1: The Panthers fell at home in Interstate-8 Conference play.

 

Girls Golf

VCL Jamboree at Sharp Park: Columbia Central easily won the jamboree at Sharp Park Golf Course with a 179. East Jackson was second (214), Napoleon placed third (218), Concord was fourth (220), Michigan Center finished fifth (222), Hanover-Horton was sixth (251), and Grass Lake was seventh (267). Anna McCubbins of Napoleon was the individual medalist with a 1-over-par 37, Logan Bentley was second for CCHS with a 39, Drew Sanders of Hanover-Horton was third with a 43, and Marrisa Berro of Columbia Central finished fourth with a 44.

Saline 195, Jackson 230: Avery White of Jackson finished second overall with a 47.

Boys Tennis

Columbia Central 4, Plymouth Christian 4: The Golden Eagles earned a tie on the road in non-conference action. CCHS won three of four doubles matches with victories by Tucker Hills/Evan DeOss at No. 2 doubles, Nolan Denney/Landon Lorenz at No. 3 doubles, and a forfeit win by Carson Luppo/Hunter Herzberg at No. 4 doubles.

Jackson 4, Ypsilanti Community 4: Rowan Alger of Jackson earned a hard-fought 3-6, 6-4, and 10-8 win at No. 2 singles. George Tobey/Amaurion Moore won a tough match at No. 3 doubles by the scores of 3-6, 6-3, and 10-4 for Jackson.

College Athletic Events

 

Volleyball

Jackson College 3, Adrian College Reserves 1: The Jets improved to 5-2 on the season with a road win at Adrian. Gracen Hager led Jackson with 18 kills, Alivia Smith tallied 41 assists, and Jaden Bates finished with 28 digs for Jackson. Allie Jarchow added 11 kills and six blocks for Jackson College. The Jets played solid defense with 90 digs in the four-game match. Jackson College travels to Glen Oaks Community College Friday for a pair of matches in the Viking Quad. JC faces the host school at 9 a.m. and Lake Michigan College at 1 p.m.

Women’s Soccer

Cumberlands 3, Spring Arbor 1: Lauren Marshall scored the only goal for Spring Arbor University (3-2).

Men’s Golf

Spring Arbor at The Players Club: Spring Arbor finished third in the three-round tournament. The Cougars shot rounds of 303, 299, and 311 for a total of 913. Blaze Tanner finished tied for sixth for SAU with a three-day total of 223.

Men’s Tennis

Spring Arbor 5, Trine 2: Jaume Riera Galindo, Daniel Rodriguez Fortes, Caleb Kaytar, and Fernando Espinosa earned singles wins for SAU.
