Baseball

Sand Creek 5, Concord 4 (9 innings): Sand Creek scored one run in the bottom of the ninth inning. Levi Raymond, Jordan Medellin, and Dustin Hamilton each finished with two hits and an RBI. 

Leslie 4, Concord 3 (9 innings): The Yellowjackets tallied only four hits in the round robin tournament at Sand Creek. Concord pitchers combined to strike out 11 batters in the contest. 

Clinton 14, Grass Lake 13: Clinton scored in the ninth inning in a contest that featured 36 hits total by the two teams. Luke Guthrie finished with four hits and Sal Vitale added three hits and two RBIs for Grass Lake. 

Clinton 17, Grass Lake 9:  Grass Lake scored nine times in the first four innings. Walker McKibben led Grass Lake with three hits in the contest. 

Hanover-Horton at Onsted Invitational: The Comets won the four-team tournament with wins over Reading (12-1) and Onsted (4-1). Blake Griffis pitched a one-hitter in the win against Reading. Luke Soper finished with three hits and three RBIs in the Reading win. Soper was the winning pitcher in game two, striking out 11 batters and recording three hits and two RBIs in the championship game. 

Jackson 23, Battle Creek Central 2: The Vikings got healthy on B.C. Central pitching in the doubleheader. Connor Bush finished with four hits and five RBIs in the win. Cooper Alger hit a home run for Jackson. 

Jackson 12, Battle Creek Central 2: The Vikings scored all 12 runs in the first two innings of the contest. Connor Bush and Mitchell Saxton each had a hit and an RBI in the contest. 

Lumen Christi 6, Gabriel Richard 0: Timmy Crowley earned the pitching win striking out seven batters in the win. Crowley and Kash Kalahar each finished with two hits and two RBIs in the win. 

Lumen Christi 11, Gabriel Richard 1: Gabe King had two hits and two RBIs and Timmy Crowley tallied three RBIs in the victory. Nathan Hinkley earned the pitching win striking out eight batters and scattering four hits. 

Northwest 5, Tecumseh 4: Alex Thrun finished with two hits and drove in one run in the victory. 

Tecumseh 6, Northwest 3: Northwest was led by Alex Thrun with three hits and one RBI in the loss. 

Softball

Northwest 9, Holt 7: Mollie Robinson finished with three hits and three RBIs in the win at Chelsea. Izzy Rogers had two hits and knocked in three runs for the Mounties. 

Chelsea 14, Northwest 4: Addi Moore finished with two hits and one RBI for the Mounties. 

Northwest 13, Farmington 7: Izzy Rogers tallied three hits and five RBIs in the win. Addi Moore had two hits and three RBIs for the Mounties. 

Western 16, Adrian 0: Abby Nieswender finished with two hits and four RBIs and Kenadee Golas added two hits and three RBIs in the win. 

Western 6, Blissfield 4: Western’s Abby Nieswender had four hits and Kenadee Golas added three hits in the tournament at Blissfield. 

Milan 21, Western 7: Abby Nieswender and Peyton Budd both hit home runs for Western in the loss.

Girls Tennis

Western at Chelsea Quad: The Panther finished 2-1 on the day with wins over Williamston (6-2) and Grosse Ile (5-3), and a loss to No. 5 Chelsea (7-1). Gabi Davis and Leslie Kinder finished undefeated on the day at No. 2 doubles and Natalie Hyde won two matches at No. 3 singles for Western.

College Athletic Events

Baseball

Jackson College 2, Henry Ford 1: Marcus Patton drove in both runs for Jackson College with a double and fielder’s choice. Gabe Jones finished with two hits in the contest. Luke Micunek earned the pitching win striking out seven batters in six innings pitched. 

Jackson College 6, Henry Ford 1: Colin Presnar pitched seven strong innings for JC. He struck out six batters and scattered three hits in the win. Caden Oliver finished with two hits and Henry Major drove in two runs for Jackson College. Jackson improves to 13-4 in conference play, 21-16 overall. They lead the Eastern Division by four games with a number of makeup and regular season games remaining. The Jets return to action Tuesday to face Davenport’s junior varsity for a nine-inning game at 3 p.m. 

Spring Arbor 8, Bethel 3: Bryce Richey hit a home run and knocked in five runs to lead Spring Arbor. Ben Redfield collected two hits and two RBIs for SAU.

Spring Arbor 5, Bethel 4: The Cougars scored two runs in the final inning to pull out the win. Aiden Brunin and Ben Redfield each had two hits and one RBI each. The Cougars are now 21-23 overall on the season.

Softball

Kalamazoo Valley 3, Jackson College 2: Addison Bobbio had one hit and one RBI in the contest for JC. The Jets only tallied three hits in the contest. 

Jackson College 9, Kalamazoo Valley 2: Sydney Schuler hit a home run and knocked in two runs for Jackson College. Rayannah Burke pitched a complete game striking out six batters in the process. The Jets are now 16-14 overall, 12-10 in the conference. JC will host Lansing Community College Friday for a doubleheader beginning at 3 p.m. 

Spring Arbor 9, St. Francis 2: Maddy Thrush hit a home run and drove in four runs for SAU in the home win. Elaina Walker added two hits and two RBIs. Emmalee Hamp pitched six strong innings for the Cougars. 

St. Francis 2, Spring Arbor 0: The Cougars were limited to five hits in the contest. Payton Grange finished with two hits in the game for SAU (29-16).

Track and Field

Hillsdale Complex Opener: Spring Arbor University finished fourth in both the men’s and women’s events. Shelby Cade won the 5,000-meter run for the SAU women in 18 minutes, 28 seconds.
