Baseball

Concord 5, Maple Valley 3: Dustin Hamilton had three hits and two RBIs and Levi Raymond added three hits for the Yellowjackets. Carter Arbuckle earned the win giving up only two hits and striking out seven batters.

Maple Valley 6, Concord 0: Carter Arbuckle recorded two of the four hits for Concord.

Lumen Christi 5, Lutheran North 0: Gabe King pitched a complete game earning the shutout win with four strikeouts. Brody Gregory, King, Nate Hinkley, and Gannon Shore each finished with two hits for the Titans.

Lutheran North 6, Lumen Christi 0: Lutheran North scored six times in the fourth inning. The Titans could only muster three hits in the contest.

Northwest 18, Hastings 8: Lincoln Keathley recorded two hits and knocked in three runs for the Mounties. Alex Thrun, Drew Clingerman, and Avery Anspach each finished with two hits for NWHS.

Northwest 4, Hastings 1: Lincoln Keathley earned the pitching win striking out five batters and collected two hits and an RBI at the plate.

Springport 15, Reading 5: The Spartans scored 12 runs in the first two innings. Gavin Lightner finished with three hits and two RBIs for Springport. Gibson Overweg earned the pitching win striking out 13 batters on the mound.

Springport 18, Reading 0: Drew Sanford pitched a 1-hitter for the Spartans striking out eight batters. Travis Riehle had one hit and knocked in three runs for Springport. Eight different players had one hit for SHS.

Western 3, Marshall 2: Alex Trudell knocked in the eventual winning run in the seventh inning for Western. Trudell and Brody Parrott each finished with two hits for Western. Justin Chapko earned the win with two scoreless innings.

Marshall 8, Western 4: Brody Parrott collected two hits for Western in the Interstate-8 matchup.

Softball

Concord 31, Maple Valley 1: Hannah Stimer drove in six runs with five hits and Zoe Schultz added four hits and four RBIs for the Yellowjackets. Riley Adams pitched a two-hitter for Concord in five innings.

Concord 23, Maple Valley 2: The Yellowjackets scored 19 runs in the first two innings. Hannah Stimer knocked in five runs with three hits and Zoe Schultz added three hits and three RBIs.

Lumen Christi 15, Gabriel Richard 3: Mallory Arcaro hit a home run and knocked in three runs for the Titans. Bella Wrozek struck out 12 batters on the mound for LCCHS.

Lumen Christi 24, Gabriel Richard 6: Lily Ganton and Mallory Arcaro hit home runs for the Titans in the contest. Arcaro finished with five RBIs and Ganton four.

Springport 6, Reading 1: Devan Lowe struck out 10 batters and Morgan Shoemaker finished with three hits and three RBIs for Springport.

Springport 17, Reading 1: Morgan Shoemaker pitched a one-hitter for the Spartans. Chloey Speer finished with three hits and an RBI for Springport.

Marshall 4, Western 2: The Panther collected 11 hits but could only push across two runs in the contest. Kenadee Golas tallied three hits and Abby Nieswender collected two hits for Western.

Western 12, Western 2: Marshall scored 10 runs in the third inning to blow open a close contest. Western could only collect three hits in the contest.

Northwest 19, Hastings 0: Ava Golightly had four hits and Addi Moore knocked in four runs for the Mounties. Izzy Rogers pitched a no hitter with six strikeouts over three innings.

Northwest 19, Hastings 0: The Mounties scored 16 times in the first inning at home Tuesday. Mollie Robinson drove in three runs for Northwest.

Boys Track and Field

Michigan Center 91, East Jackson 31: Travis Collins took first place in the 200-meter dash (23.19) and the 400-meter dash (52.71) for the Cardinals. Michael Allen swept the distance events for EJHS taking first place in the 800-meter run (2:20), the 1,600-meter run (4:44), and the 3,200-meter run (11:00). Hanover-Horton 79, Homer 56: Graham Gumper won the 100-meter dash (11.02), the 200-meter dash (22.79), and the long jump (20-10) for Hanover-Horton. For complete results go to HH track at Homer – Results – Track & Field Meet (athletic.net).

Napoleon 95, Grass Lake 42: Dallas Smith won the shot put (41-7.5) and the discus (116-1.5) and Davonta Habern won the long jump (20’1”) and the high jump (6’4”) as the Pirates won 15-of-17 events. Michigan Center 84, East Jackson 53: Emma McIntyre won the 100-meter dash (14.32) and the 200-meter dash (29.74) for Michigan Center. Western at Harper Creek Tri-meet: Western defeated Hastings (88-75) and Pennfield (122-37) in Interstate-8 Conference action. Boys Golf

Onsted Invitational: Western High School tied for second with Lumen Christi with both schools scoring 330, Hanover-Horton was fifth with 347, and Napoleon was 13th tallying 421. Eric Bonser of Western finished second individually with a 76, Adam Fuller of LCCHS was sixth scoring 79, Bristen Cekander of Hanover-Horton tied for seventh with an 80, and Charlie Saunders of Lumen Christi and Hayden Kim tied for ninth with 81s. Tecumseh won the event at 322 at Devils Lake Golf Course.

Girls Tennis

Northwest 4, Columbia Central 4: The Golden Eagles won three of the four singles’ matches. Ayrianne Gaskill, Iliana Fowle, and Lily Ellison earned wins for CCHS at Nos. 1, 3, and 4 singles, respectively. The Mounties won three-of-four doubles matches with wins by Kayli Shackelford/Melia Piloske at No. 1 doubles; Jordynn Elayaan/Maddy McPherson won at No. 2 doubles; and Lindsea Baker/Ally Thrun earned a victory at No. 4 doubles for NWHS.

St. Catherine 7, Lumen Christi 1: Olivia Eaker earned a 6-1 and 6-1 win at No. 1 singles for the Titans.

Western at Sturgis Tri-Meet: On Tuesday, the No. 8 ranked Panthers girls varsity tennis team traveled to Sturgis for a tri-meet. The team was able to come away with a 5-1 win over Sturgis and a 6-2 win over regional foe Edwardsburg. This improves the team’s overall record to 15-3 and regional record to 4-0. 

Boys Lacrosse

Jackson 13, Kalamazoo Central 9: Jackson earned its second win of the season with a home victory over Kalamazoo Central.

College Athletic Events

Baseball

Kalamazoo Valley 9, Jackson College 2: The Jets recorded nine hits, but could only push across two runs in the single game Tuesday. Caden Oliver finished with two hits and Brady Schrems and Levi Lane each had one hit and one RBI for Jackson. The Jets are now 25-18 overall, 17-4 in the conference. Jackson hosts Mott Community College Thursday beginning at 2 p.m. JTV will broadcast the doubleheader beginning at 1:45 p.m.
