Girls Basketball

Camden-Frontier 46, Vandercook Lake 13: Vandercook Lake moved back into the varsity high school basketball ranks with a home loss Wednesday. Amelia Connors led the Jayhawks with six points.

Wrestling

Tekonsha, Concord at Hanover-Horton: Hanover-Horton went 2-0 on the night with wins over Tekonsha (65-0) and Concord. Rory Birch, A.J. Lusby, Garrett Frost, A.J. Fielder, Gavin Berkeypile, Isaac Mosley, Slade Feller, Wyatt Ashworth, Austin Hocter and Reed Matthews went 2-0 for the Comets on the night.

East Jackson, Lumen Christi at Columbia Central Quad: The Golden Eagles went 1-1 on the night with a 57-24 win over Lumen Christi but a 46-35 loss to former conference foes Blissfield. Christian Millican (126), Nathan Ostrosky (132), Logan winter (150), Hunter Czubachowski (157), and Liam McCurtry (165) all earned pins against Lumen Christi. Anthony Morin (113), Parker Schirmacher (175), James Hart (190), and Hayden Rhinehart (215) earned pins for LCCHS in the CCHS matchup. Lumen Christi defeated East Jackson 42-36 in the other matchup. Julius Farrell, Roberto Mireles, and McKenna Worthing of East Jackson earned a pair of pins on the night.

Bodies were flying, fans were yelling, and whistles were busy as high school wrestling got underway Wednesday night at Columbia Central High School.

Boys Bowling

Vandercook Lake 18, Homer 12: Bruer Gieski scored a 344 series to lead the Jayhawks.

East Jackson 18, Grass Lake 12: The Trojans jumped out to a 10-0 lead sweeping the Baker games. Douglas Lysher finished with a 218 game. Tyler Paul finished with a 211 game for Grass Lake.

 Girls Bowling

Homer 24, Vandercook Lake 6: Alyssa Jones finished with a 281 series to lead VCL.

Grass Lake 21, East Jackson 9: Marielle Schafran finished with a 364 series for Grass Lake to lead all bowlers. Kilah Boatright finished with a 273 series for East Jackson.

Hockey

Lumen Christi 3, Gibraltar 0: The two teams battled to a 3-3 game in overtime.

College Athletic Events

Men’s Basketball

Spring Arbor 76, Grace 61: The Cougars defeated the No. 14 ranked team in the country at home Wednesday. Gabe Newhof scored 30 points and David Cundiff added 15 points for Spring Arbor (9-1 overall).       

Mid-Michigan College 126, Jackson College 83: The Jets fell to 1-7 with the road loss. Both teams lit up the scoreboard in the contest. Jackson College travels to Lake Michigan College Saturday at 3 p.m.

Women’s Basketball

Mid-Michigan College 89, Jackson College 73: Jackson College suffered its first loss of the season on the road Wednesday. The Jets face Lake Michigan College Saturday for a 1 p.m. tipoff.

Spring Arbor 78, Grace 56: The Cougars remained undefeated at home with the victory. Four players scored in double digits as Megan Zeitz led SAU with 18 points. Alana Nelson and Ashley Weller both scored 12 points and Emma Smieska added 11 points for Spring Arbor (8-3 overall).
