Baseball

Napoleon 10, East Jackson 0: Lucas Hankis finished with two hits and three RBIs and Christian Nykamp added two hits and two RBIs for Napoleon. Tyler Nall earned the pitching win going six innings for the Pirates. Jake Saunders was 3-for-3 at the plate for East Jackson.

Napoleon 20, East Jackson 0: Napoleon’s Lucas Hankis stayed hot with three hits and four RBIs in the win. He finished the night 5-for-7 with seven RBIs for Napoleon in the sweep. Tyler Nall also had three hits and knocked in four runs and Logan Hartman finished with two hits and two RBIs for the Pirates. Hartman earned the pitching win giving up only one hit in three innings. K.J. Oliver had one hit for East Jackson.

Hanover-Horton 2, Columbia Central 0: Luke Soper pitched 6.2 innings and struck out 10 batters earning the win for HHHS. Jack Wooster finished with two hits for Hanover-Horton. Conor Rentfrow had a pair of hits for CCHS.

Columbia Central 6, Hanover-Horton 5: The Golden Eagles scored five times in the seventh inning to pull out the win. Nick Wilding had the key hit with a three-run double for CCHS. Ryan Hammond and Lukas Calhoun each collected a pair of hits for Columbia Central. Luke Soper, Cameron Sherwood, and Lucas Nadell each finished with two hits for Hanover-Horton.

Grass Lake 3, Leslie 2: The Warriors scored three times in the first inning and held on for the win. Sal Vitale and Jacob Collins each finished with two hits for GLHS. Conner Marciniak had a pair of hits for Leslie.

Leslie 1, Grass Lake 0: Jackson Fossitt pitched a two-hitter striking out 12 batters for Leslie. Walker McKibbin pitched 5.2 innings for Grass Lake striking out seven batters.

Jackson 15, Ypsilanti Community 0: The Vikings got healthy on Ypsilanti pitching with 28 hits in the sweep. Cooper Alger finished with three hits and Connor Bush and Killian Ripley each collected two hits for Jackson. Hayden Best pitched a one-hitter for Jackson.

Jackson 22, Ypsilanti Community 4:  Killian Ripley and Connor Bush led the hitting attack for Jackson. Ripley finished with three hits and two RBIs and Bush hit a home run and knocked in four runs for Jackson. Zander Resor also finished with three hits for Jackson.

Manchester 10, Michigan Center 2: Michigan Center could only muster two hits in the loss. Dylan Whitmill and Brennan Forward recorded hits for the Cardinals.

Manchester 10, Michigan Center 5: The Cardinals scored four times in the fifth inning, but it was not enough to defeat Manchester. Brennan Forward had two hits and Miles Stewart drove in two runs for MCHS.

Addison 11, Vandercook Lake 1: Justin Barnes and Carter Stiles each collected hits for VCL in the loss.

Addison 17, Vandercook Lake 0:  Justin Barnes and Le’Shawn Landrum finished with one hit apiece for VCL.

Softball

Napoleon 15, East Jackson 4: The Pirates scored 14 of its 15 runs in the last four innings. Maggie Beer had three hits and three RBIs and Camryn Smilowski finished with three hits for Napoleon. Kaitlyn Fall struck out 10 batters on the mound for Napoleon. Emily Uyttenhove, Savannah MacGuinness, and Layla Stokely each finished with one hit and one RBI for the Trojans.

Napoleon 7, East Jackson 5: East Jackson scored three runs in the seventh inning, but it was not enough to pull out the win. Maggie Beer and Haven Marker each recorded a pair of hits for Napoleon. Emily Uyttenhove finished with two of the Trojans’ four hits in the contest.

Hanover-Horton 3, Columbia Central 0: Dani Riggs hit a two-run homer for the Comets to pull out the victory. Alexin DuBois pitched a complete game for HHHS striking out 13 batters. Hailey Wetherby struck out seven batters on the mound for CCHS in the pitcher’s duel.

Hanover-Horton 5, Columbia Central 1: The Comets scored three times in the third inning to break open a scoreless game. Alexyn DuBois hit a pair of home runs and drove in three runs for Hanover-Horton. Alexis Flint finished with two hits and two RBIs for the Comets. The Golden Eagles were limited to two hits – one each by Kelsey Fausz and Camden Knapp.

Grass Lake 1, Leslie 0: Morgan Conrad earned the pitching win for Grass Lake striking out seven batters. Ada Bradford struck out four batters for Leslie. Bree Salts knocked in the winning run for Grass Lake.

Grass Lake 16, Leslie 1: Addalynn Hensen hit a home run and drove in three runs for Grass Lake. Olivia Turner and Emily Brown each collected four hits for Grass Lake. Turner drove in five runs and Brown 2.

Manchester 10, Michigan Center 8: Manchester scored six times in the last two innings to pull out the win. Michigan Center collected 12 hits including three by Emma Pond and two hits and two RBIs by Kylie McKee.

Manchester 14, Michigan Center 6: The Cardinals finished with 13 hits in the contest but could only push across six runs. Kylie McKee finished with four hits and two RBIs in the loss.

Addison 19, Vandercook Lake 1: Erin Riddle and Taylor Sildack each finished with a pair of hits for VCL. Lace Patterson drove in five runs for Addison.

Addison 15, Vandercook Lake 1: The Panthers scored 10 times in the third inning against VCL. Courtney Riddle finished with the only hits for the Jayhawks in the contest.

Boys Track and field

Northwest at Western:  Western High School defeated Northwest (124-36) and Coldwater (112-51). The Mounties lost to Coldwater 119-44. Edison Lopeman won the 800-meter run (2:07) and the 1,600-meter (4:33) for Western. Aiden Tryon took first in the 100-meter dash (11.64) for the Mounties. Girls Track and field

Northwest at Western: Western earned a split with a win over Northwest (97-62) and a loss to Coldwater (102.5-59.5). Northwest lost to Coldwater  122-33. Cami Boldt won the 300-meter hurdles for Western (52.12), and Northwest was led by Chloe Khon who won the 1,600-meter run (5:38) and the 3,200-meter run (12:20). Girls Soccer

Hanover-Horton 1, Napoleon 1: The Pirates celebrated senior night with its first ever home contest. Sophia Jennings scored the Pirates’ goal with an assist going to Lily Eagen. Joy Flack made 15 saves in net for Napoleon. Olivia Perrine scored the Comets’ goal on a penalty kick at the 5:08 mark of the first half.

Manchester 1, Columbia Central 0: The Flying Dutchmen scored a goal midway through the second half and made it stick as the winner. Manchester is 12-2 overall, 11-0 in the Cascades Conference. Columbia Central falls to 9-6 overall, 7-6 in the conference.

Michigan Center 5, Jonesville 0: Cecelia Scaife had three goals and two assists and Lydia Meyer added a pair of goals for MCHS. Maisie Tedrow finished with one assists and Abbie Hess recorded five saves in earning the shutout for the Cardinals.

Chelsea 8, Jackson 1: Alaina Martindale scored the lone goal for the Vikings off a corner kick.

Boys Golf

Big Eight at Union City: Springport finished third with a four-man total of 173 and Concord posted two scores in the Big Eight jamboree. The Spartans were led by Brody Baum with a 37 and Maximilian Argumedo with a 42. Lleyton Bauman shot a 46 to lead Concord.

Jackson Christian at Climax-Scotts: The Royals finished second to Hillsdale Academy in SCAA league play Monday. JCHS shot 183 led by Nate Locke with a 40 and Anderson Jacobs scoring 44.

Lumen Christi at CHSL final: Lumen Christi won the Cardinal Division of the Catholic High School League with a four-man total of 314. Brandon Kulka finished third overall with a 76, Charlie Saunders was fifth individually scoring 77, and Adam Fuller was seventh with an 80.

Girls Tennis

Columbia Central 7, Jackson 1: Columbia Central heads into the Division 4 regional with a 9-1-1 record. Ayrianne Gaskill, Iliana Fowle, and Lily Ellison won singles matches for CCHS. Hansika Rathod won at No. 2 singles for Jackson. Abby Thivierge/Jordan Peek won a marathon match at No. 1 doubles 6-1, 2-6, and 10-3.

Northwest 6, Tecumseh 2: The Mounties are now 8-3-2 in tennis following a non-conference win over Tecumseh.

Boys Lacrosse

Jackson 10, Pennfield 6: Jackson earned its third win of the season. They will face Ann Arbor Huron Wednesday at home (Lumen Christi) in a regional play-in contest beginning at 5:30 p.m.

College Athletic Events

Softball

Spring Arbor 4, Missouri Baptist 3: The Cougars won its first round game in the NAIA National Tournament Monday. Payton Grange had a key two-run single in the game giving SAU an early lead. Emmalee Hamp earned her 22nd win of the season for Spring Arbor (34-20). SAU faces the No. 1 seed in Eastern Oregon University today at noon.
