Grass Lake 9, Columbia Central 7: The Warriors swept the series between the two division winners in the Cascades Conference. Sal Vitale finished with three hits and three RBIs for Grass Lake. Conor Rentfrow hit a home run and knocked in four runs for CCHS.
Hudson 4, Hanover-Horton 2: Luke Soper collected two of the Comets’ five hits in the contest and knocked in one run.
Hanover-Horton 11, Hudson 0: Hunter Fox pitched a two-hit shutout for the Comets in game one finishing with seven strikeouts. Lukas Nadell collected four hits and Luke Soper added two hits and three RBIs for HHHS.
Napoleon 7, Addison 6: The Pirates won 2-of-3 games in the series against Addison in the Cascades Conference crossover. Grant Bradley hit two home runs and knocked in four runs to lead Napoleon. Carson Berry also finished with a pair of hits for Napoleon.
Michigan Center 17, Homer 5: Levi Layher, Gavin Shuster, and Hunter Fredrickson combined for six of the Cardinals’ 11 hits in the contest. Fredrickson finished with three hits and three RBIs and Brady Sober collected two hits and knocked in four runs for MCHS.
Softball
Saline 8, Grass Lake 3: Grass Lake lost its second game of the season during a home loss. Emily Brown finished with three hits and knocked in two runs for the Warriors.
Grass Lake 10, Saline 3: The Warriors were held scoreless the first four inning but combined to score 10 runs in the fifth and sixth innings at home Wednesday. Emily Brown finished with four hits and Olivia Turner knocked in five of those runs for Grass Lake. Morgan Conrad pitched all seven innings striking out eight batters for Grass Lake (33-2).
Springport 23, Colon 17: Morgan Shoemaker hit a home run and knocked in four runs and Brenna Crittenden tallied five hits and knocked in six runs in a wild win for the Spartans. Springport collected 24 hits in the win as Rebekkah Betz, Chloey Speer, Devan Lowe, and Zannah Zerbe each finished with three hits.
Springport 14, Colon 2: The Spartans scored 12 times in the first two innings of the contest. Brenna Crittenden finished with three hits and three RBIs for Springport (22-8).
Stockbridge 15, Vandercook Lake 0: The Jayhawks were no-hit by Jessica Sparks in the contest.
Boys Track and Field
Big Eight Conference Final at Maple Valley: Concord High School finished third and Springport fifth at the Big Eight Conference final Wednesday. Tyreke Brown of Concord won the 200-meter dash (23.62), and Tucker Wiginton took first place in the pole vault (13-0) for Springport. Girls Track and Field
Big Eight Conference Final at Maple Valley: The Yellowjackets finished third and Springport fourth at the conference meet at Maple Valley. Concord freshman Bradie Lehman won the 100-meter dash (13.08 seconds) and the 200-meter dash (26.92). Girls Soccer
Dansville 9, Hanover-Horton 2: The Comets lost at home in the Division 4 district opener. Hanover-Horton finishes the season with a 4-14-1 overall record.
Mason 8, Jackson 0: The Vikings fell in the Division 2 district contest at Mason. “The girls showed a lot of growth throughout the season and fought through a lot of adversity,” Coach Terry Anderson said. “I am proud of this group for sticking together and continuing to learn with the odds stacked against them in a very difficult division and district match up.” Jackson finishes the season with a 1-16 record.
Boys Golf
Lumen Christi Stableford: Cody Rowe of Northwest High School won the event scoring 18. Players earned points based on eagles, birdies, pars, and lost points for bogeys. Hayden Kim of Western was second scoring 17, and Adam Fuller of Lumen Christi was third scoring 16.
