Softball

Springport 5, Western 4: Springport scored two runs in the top of the sixth inning to take the lead. Chloey Speer and Brenna Crittenden each had a pair of hits for Springport. Abby Nieswender had two hits and knocked in one run for Western.

Springport 8, Western 5: The Spartans recorded five runs in the fifth inning at Western. Rebekkah Betz finished with three hits in the contest. Bayli Stewart and Peyton Budd each finished with two hits and two RBIs for Western.

Soccer Districts

D-2 Western 7, Northwest 0: Nevaeh Hartshorn scored twice in the first half for the Panthers. Western advances to face Marshall Tuesday at 5 p.m. at Mason High School.

D-3 Columbia Central 5, Grass Lake 1: The Golden Eagles advance at home in the Division 3 district tournament with a win over Grass Lake Friday. Mara Henry scored four goals and one by Lydia Stewart. The Golden Eagles face A.A. Greenhills May 29 at 5:30 p.m. at CCHS.

D4 Lumen Christi 8, Napoleon 0: The Titans advance to the D-4 district semifinal against Dansville on May 28. Time and location has yet to be posted. Napoleon finishes the season with a 1-15-2 record in its first season as a varsity program in MHSAA play.

Lansing Christian 7, Jackson Christian 0: The Royals finish the season with a 4-13 record.

Track and Field

MITCA Division 2 Final: Western High School finished second in the event, missing the championship by two points. Edison Lopeman won the 3,200-meter run (9:34), Brennan Faber won the shot put (58-4.5) and Joshua Veneziano took first in the high jump (6-5) for Western. For results go to
