Baseball Districts

D-3 Leslie 4,  Grass Lake 0: Grass Lake finishes the season with a 21-13 record following the district loss to Leslie. The Blackhawks face Napoleon Saturday at 10 a.m. in the district semifinal. Stockbridge and Michigan Center face off in the other district semifinal at noon with the final at approximately 2 p.m. Jackson Fossitt earned the pitching win with 11 strikeouts for Leslie.

D-3 Columbia Central 3, Sand Creek 1: Nick Wilding pitched five scoreless innings for CCHS to earn the win in the D-3 district at Onsted. CCHS scored three times in the top of the seventh inning to pull out the victory. Lucas Calhoun finished with two hits and two RBIs for the Golden Eagles. CCHS faces former conference foes Onsted in the district semifinal Saturday at 10 a.m. The winner of that game advances to the district final at Onsted at approximately 2 p.m.

D-3 Hanover-Horton vs. Lumen Christi: The D-3 district game was delayed in the third inning at Olivet. The scoreless game is expected be restarted Wednesday at 5 p.m. at OHS.

Addison 14, East Jackson 0: The Trojans could only muster one hit – by Dustin Poole – in the loss.

Springport 7, Bath 5: The Spartans scored twice in the top of the sixth inning to pull out the win. Seven players had one hit apiece and Hunter Miller finished with two hits for Springport.

Bath 7, Springport 0: The Spartans were limited to three hits in game two of the doubleheader.

Softball Districts

D-2 Eaton Rapids at Northwest: The district opener was moved to Thursday at 4:30 p.m. due to weather conditions on Tuesday.

D-3 Grass Lake 18, Michigan Center 0: Bree Salts and Olivia Turner hit home runs for the Warriors in the D-3 district win at Stockbridge. Turner knocked in four runs and Rylee Fitzpatrick finished with three hits and three RBIs. Morgan Conrad pitched a three inning no-hitter striking out 7-of-10 batters faced. Grass Lake advances to the district semifinal against Leslie Saturday at 10 a.m. Napoleon faces Stockbridge in the other semifinal at noon. The final is expected at 2 p.m.

Lumen Christi 4, Columbia Central 2: The Titans scored three times in the third inning to pull ahead in the non-conference matchup. Bella Wrozek finished with three hits and knocked in one run for LCCHS. She also earned the pitching win with a complete game and 10 strikeouts. Camden Knapp finished with one hit and an RBI for CCHS.

Lumen Christi 5, Columbia Central 4: Columbia Central scored once in the seventh inning but could not pull even. Bri Boone and Rylee Knapp both finished with a pair of hits for CCHS. Bree Okoniewski and Allison O’Dowd each had two hits for the Titans and Mallory Arcaro and Bella Wrozek knocked in two runs.

Concord 20, Waldron 1: Madisyn Barrett finished with three hits and Danielle Fritz added two hits and three RBIs for Concord. Riley Adams earned the pitching win striking out six batters in five innings pitched.

Concord 22, Waldron 14: Waldron scored eight runs in the first inning, but the Yellowjackets battled back with 16 runs in the first three innings. Madisyn Barrett finished with four hits and four RBIs for Concord. Rylee Adams and Zoe Schultz each recorded two hits for Concord.

Hanover-Horton 12, Quincy 2: Alexyn DuBois hit a home run – one of four hits – and knocked in three runs for the Comets. DuBois also earned the pitching win with 13 strikeouts in six innings. Amanda Ley also recorded four hits for HHHS.

Hanover-Horton 6, Quincy 4: The Comets scored five runs in the team’s last two at bats to pull out the victory. Mollie Easter knocked in three runs and Halle Swihart tallied three hits for Hanover-Horton.

Boys Track and Field

James R. Selby Track Classic at Jackson: Ahmad Ameen of Jackson High School won the 200-meters (22.75) and 400-meters (49.23) at the all-county meet. For complete results for the Selby Classic held Tuesday night go to: https://www.athletic.net/TrackAndField/meet/520777/results/all.

Girls Track and Field

James R. Selby Track Classic at Jackson: Madison Osterberg of Lumen Christi Catholic High School won the 800-meter run (2:17.27) and the 1,600-meter run (4:59.6). For complete results for the Selby Classic go to: https://www.athletic.net/TrackAndField/meet/520777/results/all.

Girls Soccer Districts

D-4 Lumen Christi 2, Leslie 0: The Titans advance to the D-4 regional final at Leslie High School Thursday at 5:30 p.m. against the winner of Lansing Christian/Dansville.

Boys Golf Regionals

D-2 at Gull Lake: Northwest High School finished third advancing to the D-2 state meet June 7, 8 at Forest Akers West on the campus of Michigan State University. The Mounties finished with a four-man total of 311 at Bedford Valley Golf Course near Battle Creek. Northwest was led by Jake Brafford with a 73, Cody Rowe shot a 75, J.J. Miller carded a 79, and Ryan Stevens an 84. Western High School finished fourth at 322. Freshman Andrew Boldt was an individual state qualifier for the Panthers with a 77. Hayden Kim finishes with a 79, Eric Bonser shot 80, and Gibson French carded an 86 for Western.  Complete results, click here.

Division 3 at HawksHead Golf Course: Springport finished sixth as a team in the Division 3 events near South Haven with a 386. Freshman Brody Baum is an individual qualifier after shooting an 87 to lead the Spartans. Brayden Hawes shot a 95, Maximillian Argumendo finished with 97, and Gibson Overweg carded a 107. Baum will participated in the D-3 final at Katke Course on the campus of Ferris State University. For complete results click here.

D-3 at Cascades Golf Course: Lumen Christi Catholic High School won the regional title with a 316 at Cascades Golf Course Tuesday. Michigan Center finished fourth (355), Hanover-Horton and Columbia Central tied for  seventh (359), Napoleon placed 16th (385), and Grass Lake was 17th (390). The Titans were led by freshman Brandon Kulka with a 77 – finishing second individually, Anthony Kulka was third individually with a 78, Charlie Sanders finished fifth overall with an 80, and Jack Swihart was sixth overall with an 81. Hayden Carter of Columbia Central is a state individual qualifier with an 82 and Hoyt Wrona of Hanover-Horton is also a state individual qualifier with an 82. Lumen Christi and the two individual qualifiers will play at the state final at the Katke Course June 7, 8 near the campus of Ferris State University. For complete results click here.  

D-4 at Calderone Golf Club: Jackson Christian High School grabbed the third and final team qualifying spot with a team score of 357 at Calderone Golf Club. Vandercook Lake finished 14th (469) and East Jackson and Concord did not have four golfers to post a team score. The Royals used consistency to get to the state meet as Jonathan Locke and Anderson Jacobs shot 88s, Nate Locke finished with an 89, and Christian Guerrero carded a 92 for Jackson Christian. The Royals advance to the D-4 state finals June 7, 8, at The Meadows Golf Course near the campus of Grand Valley State University. For complete results of the D-4 regional click here.
