It was a great night for Spring Arbor University as the Cougars won Crossroads League titles in both men’s and women’s soccer and the women’s basketball team improved to 6-0.

Hockey

Cap City 5, Jackson United 3: Brennan Forward scored two goals and Dominic Johnson added another for Jackson United. Jonah Hughes finished with 22 saves in net for JU.

College Athletic Events

 Men’s Basketball

Grand Rapids 80, Jackson College 73: The Jets fell on the road in MCCAA action Wednesday night. Kamerin Carter scored 21 points and Savonn Campbell added 20 points and 15 rebounds for JC. Cooper Johnston tallied 11 points and Bobby Roberts finished with 10 rebounds for Jackson College (1-2). The Jets will host Lansing Community College Saturday at 1 p.m.

Women’s Basketball

Spring Arbor 80, Rochester 57: SAU won its sixth consecutive victory of the season in the teams first Field Trip game. Hundreds of students from Hanover-Horton attended the game. Emma Smieska scored a career-high 26 points in the win. Megan Zeitz scored 16 points and Alayna Kulesza added 14 points for the Cougars (6-0).

Men’s Soccer

Spring Arbor 4, Marian 1: Spring Arbor captured the Crossroads League Tournament title with the victory. Jack Voight scored two goals and Sahel Yessen and Rood Schnaider each scored one in the victory. The victory secured a spot in the NAIA Men’s Soccer National Championship.

Women’s Soccer

Spring Arbor 4, Marian 3: Spring Arbor won back-to-back Crossroads League titles with the victory and an automatic bid to the NAIA Women’s Soccer National Championship. Kaylee Beekel scored a hat trick to secure the win. Reagan Kohler earned the victory in net for Spring Arbor (16-3).
