Men’s Basketball
Spring Arbor 65, Mount Nazarene 57: The Cougars were victorious in its Crossroads League opener Thursday. Travis Grayson led Spring Arbor with 19 points, Eli White added 12 points, Kevyn Robertson scored 11 points, and Gabe Newhof finished with 10 points and seven rebounds for SAU (6-1 overall, 1-0 CL).
Delta College 103, Jackson College 91: The Jets fell to 1-4 on the season with a road loss Thursday. Savonn Campbell led Jackson with 21 points and 11 rebounds. Robby Roberts scored 20 points with nine rebounds, Kamerin Carter scored 19 points, and Cooper Johnson added 13 points. Jackson College travels to South Suburban College Saturday for a 4 p.m. tipoff.
Women’s Basketball
Jackson College 98, Delta College 68: Jackson College is now 5-0 following the road win Thursday at Delta College. Kaylona Butler scored 23 points, Kiyla Brooks added 22 points and six steals, Michelle McGee tallied 14 points and five assists, and Zoie Bamm scored 11 points and pulled down 10 rebounds for Jackson. The Jets are averaging nearly 80 points per game to start the season. JC will travel to South Suburban College Saturday for a 2 p.m. tip.
Spring Arbor 78, Mount Nazarene 67: Spring Arbor University outscored Mount Vernon Nazarene 25-17 in the fourth quarter breaking open a close contest. Alana Nelson scored 24 points and hauled in 14 rebounds, Emma Smieska added 16 points, and Megan Zeitz tallied 15 points and five assists for SAU. The Cougars are now 7-1 overall on the season.
