Boys Basketball
Columbia Central 66, Addison 31: Derek Sanders scored his 1,000th career point in the win for CCHS. He finished with 14 points, Nolan Schiel added 13 points, and Jonas Maki scored with 11 points for the Golden Eagles.
Concord 68, Maple Valley 41: Jett Smith led the way for Concord with 20 points. Connor Stevens and Jordan Medellin each scored 14, and Darrelle Dean added 10 for the Yellow Jackets.
Grass Lake 59, East Jackson 32: Braden Lape scored 23 points and pulled down 10 rebounds in the contest. Bryant Cook added 10 points and four assists for the Warriors.
Grass Lake defeated East Jackson 59-32 at home Friday.

Hanover-Horton 71, Homer 50: The Comets earned its first win of the season with a Cascades West Division victory.
Michigan Center 57, Napoleon 25: Travis Collins led Michigan Center with 20 points and Jayden Watson added 14 points. Brenten Owen scored 11 points and Tyler Nall added 9 points for Napoleon.

Springport 52, Reading 36: The Spartans improved to 3-0 on the season with the victory. Springport is giving up less than 40 points per game.
Jonesville 50, Vandercook Lake 30: Micheal Smith scored 16 of his team-high 18 points in the second half for VCL.

Jackson Christian 61, Litchfield 20: Rennie Huff led with 27 points and 10 steals and Ella Boll had 10 points and 10 rebounds for the Royals.
Lumen Christi 50, Divine Child 42: Kenna Hunt scored 26 points and Lucy Wrozek added 14 points for the Titans.
Northwest 40, Pennfield 28: Northwest High School improved to 1-1 on the season with the I-8 victory.
Western 61, G.R. West Catholic 51: Western High School opened the season with a non-conference win.
Wrestling
East Jackson Girls Invitational: Aleah Gillett of Hanover-Horton won the title at 235B; Kylee Grimmett of Springport finished second at 125 pounds; and Bella Huston of Columbia Central finished third and Myah Harris of Northwest was fourth at 190 pounds.
Boys Bowling
Michigan Center 19, Grass Lake 11: Cole Troyer rolled a 365 series to lead the Cardinals. Xander Weir finished with a 191 game to lead Grass Lake.
Girls Bowling
Grass Lake 22, Michigan Center 8: Kylie McGee led all bowlers with a 205 game for Michigan Center. Mariella Schafran led Grass Lake rolled a 348 series.
Hockey
Lumen Christi 5, Jackson 0: Luke DuMont scored a pair of goals as Lumen Christi continues to dominate the Battle for the Boot series. Zack Jaakkola earned the shutout in net for the Titans.

Michigan Center 63, Jackson 51: Michigan Center earned a win at Albion College during the Carl E. Lee Classic.Travis Collins scored 16 points and Jayden Watson added 14 points for MCHS. Berkeley Drummond scored 11 points and Amarion Moore added nine points for Jackson.
Lumen Christi 59, Cranbrook 44: The Titans kicked off the 2024-2025 season with a road win.
Marshall 62, Hanover-Horton 60: The Comets made a late surge in the contest at Albion College. Luke Soper scored 34 points in the win.
Girls Basketball
Hanover-Horton 45, Jackson 38: Maggie Soper and Morgan Kuhl each scored 16 points for the Comets. Alexis Bennett scored 15 points to lead Jackson.
Detroit Country Day 62, Grass Lake 54: Kate Starkey scored 27 points and Reese Lape added 17 points and 13 rebound for Grass Lake. Bree Salts and Elise Bullock combined for 17 rebounds for the Warriors.

JAWS at Middle School at Parkside: The Jackson Area Wrestling Showdown was turned into an individual event for the first time. Top four placers included Aiden Johnson of Grass Lake who won the 106 pound title and Logan Clay of Jackson who was third in the same weight category; Eden Nguyen of Jackson was third at 113 pounds; Christian Millican of Columbia Central and Brandon Rohde of Grass Lake were second and fourth respectively at 120 pounds; Thomas Fall of Northwest was second at 126 pounds; Evan Beuerle of Northwest and Elijah Crist of Western finished second and fourth respectively at 132 pounds; Blaine Anspaugh of Northwest won the title at 138 pounds and Aiden Durham of Grass Lake was third; Jeffrey Miller of Northwest won the championship at 144 pounds; teammate Jack Edwards placed fourth at 150 pounds; Juan Asta of Northwest was third at 157 pounds and Andrew Anderson of Jackson was fourth; Titan Parker of Western was third at 165 pounds; Adam Carlson of Western finished fourth at 175 pounds; Shea Haehnle of Jackson finished second at 190 pounds; and Dylan Boone of Columbia Central was second and Curtis Winters of Jackson third at 285 pounds.

Hanover-Horton at Concord Invitational: Concord presented the annual Grover Wrestling Invitational on Saturday. Here are the wrestlers who placed in the top four of each weight class: A.J. Lusby of Hanover-Horton was fourth at 113 pounds; A.J. Fielder won the title at 132 pounds; Gavin Berkeypile of Hanover finished second at 144 pounds; and Austyn Hocter was third at 190 pounds for Hanover-Horton.
East Jackson Invitational: East Jackson hosted the second Brandon Walker Memorial Invitational Saturday. Here are the local wrestlers who finished in the top four of each weight class: Alex Jewell of East Jackson finished second in the 120B division; Carter Mikolajczyk of Michigan Center was third at 132 pounds; teammate Ashton Bristow was also second at 138 pounds and Ken Mangles of Leslie was third; Julius Farrell of East Jackson finished fourth at 144 pounds; Dominik Karshnock of Michigan Center placed third in the 150B division; ; Bryce Beadenkopf of Michigan Center third at 165 pounds; Andrew Beadenkopf won the title at 175 pounds; Jordan Allain of East Jackson was third at 175B; Davion King of Michigan Center won the 190 pound division and James Hart of Lumen Christi was third; and Austin Renfrew of Leslie won the title at 285B and Cooper Clevenger of Lumen Christi was second.
Springport at Lansing Eastern Invitational: Springport competed in the annual Don Johnson Wrestling Invitational at Lansing Eastern. Here are the wrestlers who finished in the top four: Joshua Jordan finished fourth at 106 pounds; Mason Thurber defeated teammate Brody Birchfield for the title at 113 pounds; Owen Thomas also defeated teammate Shamus O’Hearon for the championship at 120 pounds; Jacob Potter was second at 126 pounds; Jacob Kubiak was fourth at 138; Daniel Dysert was third at 157 pounds; Kaden Sizemore won the championship for Springport at 165 pounds; and Eli Worth was second at 285 pounds.
Napoleon at New Boston Invitational: Napoleon defeated Michigan Collegiate and Woodhaven in the only two scores posted on trackwrestling.com. Carson Warner (165), Dayton Gorney (120), and Nolan Kirsch (126) each scored a pair of pins in the two contested matches.
Competitive Cheer
Spring Arbor Invitational: SAU hosted the Cougar Classic Saturday with numerous local schools. Hanover-Horton won the Division 4 competition with 695, Grass Lake was third scoring 523, Napoleon tallied 517, and Springport was sixth with 316. Columbia Central finished second in the upper division contest scoring 564.
Concord, Vandercook at Leslie Invitational: Vandercook Lake finished sixth (543) and Concord seventh (453) at Leslie High School. Carlton Airport won the event with 741 and the host school was fourth scoring 611.
Hockey
Kalamazoo United 3, Jackson 2 (OT): Nick Baumgardner and Brennan Forward scored for JU in the contest. Alex Chappell scored 38 shots in goal for Jackson in his first varsity start.
Lumen Christi 2, Chelsea 0: Josh DuMont and Brodie Gregory scored goal for the Titans. Zach Jaakkola earned the shutout in net for Lumen Christi.
Gymnastics
Jackson Area Gymnastics at Holt Invitational: JAG finished fourth with a team score of 130.525. Remi Taylor finished first on the beam with a 9.325 and was fourth in the overall scoring 34.075. Annabelle Bebee finished sixth on the bars scoring 7.925.
College Events
Men’s Basketball
Lake Michigan College 69, Jackson College 68: The Jets suffered its second one-point loss of the season. Jackson College hosts Olivet College’s reserve players Thursday at 7:30 p.m.
Indiana Wesleyan 89, Spring Arbor 83: Gabe Newhof finished with 21 points in the contest for SAU. Dante Favor added 19 points, Shane Ryske tallied 12 points, and David Cundiff scored 10 points for SAU (9-2).
Women’s Basketball
Jackson College 95, Lake Michigan College 50: The Jets got back on the winning path with a huge win at Lake Michigan College. Five players scored in double digits led by Zoie Bamm who scored 23 points and J’Ahni Walker who added 16 points for Jackson College (8-1). The Jets host Parkland College Thursday at 5:30 p.m.
Indiana Wesleyan 69, Spring Arbor 59: The Cougars were tied heading into the fourth quarter of the Crossroads League road game. Alana Nelson scored 21 points and Megan Zeitz added 18 points for SAU (8-4).
Bowling
Spring Arbor University at CL Tournament at Fort Wayne: Spring Arbor won the team event in women’s bowling scoring 5,127 pins. The Cougars defeated Marian University by two pins taking first place in the men’s division. Dallas Casey won the men’s individual title with a 706 series. SAU went 1-2-3 in the women’s individual event as Kayla Tafanelli (618), Devon Thomas (603), and Paige Morris (588) went first through third, respectively.
