JTV Sports Weekend Wrap Up Scoreboard for October 27, 2024

Football from October 25

Vandercook Lake 42, East Jackson 7: The two teams were scoreless in the first quarter but exploded in the next three quarters. Amaree Padgett finished with more than 200 yards of offense for EJHS and one score. No stats were available for the Jayhawks.

Michigan Center 43, Homer 8: Michigan Center finishes the season at 4-5 overall while Homer was 1-8. No stats were provided to JTV by either team.

Grass Lake 49, Addison 14: Brayden Lape – the offensive player of the year in the Cascades Conference – threw of 429 yards and seven touchdowns for Grass Lake. Bryant Cook and Jacob Collins each caught a pair of touchdown passes for the Warriors. Cook – the Cascades Conference defensive player of the year – made 13 tackles for Grass Lake. The Warriors are 6-3 overall and await to see if they make the MHSAA playoffs.

Napoleon 46, Columbia Central 41: The two teams played for the Jug for the second time this season. Napoleon won both games, this time in a wild offensive battle. Zavior Skog ran for 219 yards and scored four touchdowns for the Pirates and Jayden Servis added 57 rushing yards and one touchdown. Zack Bamm finished with 11 tackles for Napoleon. CCHS was led by Conor Rentfrow with 175 passing yard and two touchdown, Bauston Pilaczynski ran for 76 yards and two touchdowns, and Nic Richardson and Blake Hoskins caught touchdown passes for CCHS. Shane Taylor and Nic Richardson each recorded eight tackles for the Golden Eagles. Napoleon finishes the regular season with a 6-3 record while CCHS closes out 2024 with a 3-6 record.

Manchester 12, Jonesville 6 (2OT): Manchester High School finishes the regular season with a 7-2 record while Jonesville closes out the 2024 season with a 5-4 record. No stats were provided by either team.

Bellevue 38, Concord 0: Concord closes out the season with a 3-6 overall record. The game was called early due to a severe injury.

Haslett 42, Jackson 24: The game was called midway through the fourth quarter due to a fight in the parking lot. Jackson started the season 4-0 but lost its last five games. No stats were available for the Vikings.

Harper Creek 53, Northwest 0: Northwest High School finishes the season with a 3-6 record. No stats were available for the Mounties.

Springport 47, Potterville 6: Springport High School turned it around with a 7-2 season after winning seven games in the previous four seasons combined. Coach Ben Pack earned his 100th win as a head coach with the victory. Gibson Overweg ran for 115 yards and two scores and Daniel Dysert added 81 yards and one score for Springport. The Spartans ran for 338 yards in the contest. Springport awaits to see who they may play in the MHSAA playoffs in Division 7.

Western 56, Pennfield 0: Reed Myers threw for 166 yards and two touchdowns. Rushing touchdowns were scored by Zayd Coats, Roman Hawk, Justin Chapko, and Brody Parrott, and Maverick Hammond caught three passes for 89 yards and two scores. Parrott finished with six tackles for Western. The Panthers were 11th in Division 4 playoff points heading into the weekend.

Stockbridge 34, Dansville 9: The Panthers finish the regular season with a 3-6 record, having won three of four games to finish the season. Zac Rogozinski threw for 166 yards and three touchdowns for the Panthers. Noah Sandecki finished with 108 rushing yards and Brandon Hamlett ran for 80 yards and one score for Stockbridge.

Coldwater 10, Marshall 6: Marshall High School finishes the season with a 3-6 record.

Hudson 38, Hillsdale 0: Hillsdale High School could only muster 7 yards of rushing in the game. The Hornets finish 0-9 on the season, 0-7 in the LCAA.

Results from October 26

Football

Leslie 35, Hanover-Horton 14: Joel Cranmore was the man for Leslie responsible for all five touchdowns in the Cascades Conference championship game. He threw 238 yards and ran for another 130 yards in the victory. Jayden Colby caught eight passes for 113 yards and Braydin Johnson added 101 receiving yard and one score. Tanner Craft was the defensive stalwart for Leslie with 16 tackles. Austyn Hocter scored a touchdown in the first half and Luke Soper scored the other in the second half for the Comets (8-1). Both teams will be playing in the Michigan High School Athletic Association playoffs – to be named Sunday afternoon.

Lumen Christi 39, Kalamazoo United 21: Kadale Williams scored all six touchdowns for the Titans as they won at Ford Field in Detroit. Williams finished with 220 rushing yards in the contest. Defensively Paul Sattler and Sean Walicki each had six tackles for the Titans. Lumen Christi awaits its playoff assignment – to be named on Sunday by the Michigan High School Athletic Association.

Volleyball

Cascades Conference Final: Grass Lake finished third and Columbia Central fifth in the Cascades Conference Tournament at Michigan Center. The Warriors defeated Jonesville but lost to Manchester in the semifinal. Grass Lake defeated Napoleon in the third-place contest. Reese Lape finished with 23 kills and Mia Buttigieg tallied 52 assists on the day for Grass Lake. The Golden Eagles finished the day 3-1 earning fifth place. Alison Richardson finished with 23 kills, 42 assists, and 51 digs for CCHS. Allie Choate tallied 17 kills and Cecelia Slat finished with 43 digs for CCHS. Hanover-Horton defeated Manchester 2-0 in the final match. Napoleon finished fourth overall as Myla Hasegawa finished with 13 kills and 29 digs and Kate Fall added 35 assists.

Big 8 at Springport: Concord lost to Bronson in the conference finals but still earned a share of the Big Eight crown. Iyla Weeks finished with 53 kills, Bradie Lehman dished 61 assists, Jaylyn Otto finished with 19 aces, and Annie Saenz added 20 digs and 15 kills for Concord.

SEC Final at Adrian: Jackson lost to Chelsea, Pickney, and Tecumseh – the eventual champions – in the Southeastern Conference tournament at Adrian.

I-8 Finals at Hastings: Northwest lost to Marshall and Western in the I-8 Tournament at Hastings. Western went on to defeated Coldwater but lose to Harper Creek.

Boys Cross Country Regionals

Division 1 at Holly, Oct. 26: Jackson High School finished 12th in the team competition. Bryson White finished 38th overall in 17:28 for Jackson.

Division 2 Qualifiers at DeWitt: Western High School finished second as a team to earn a team qualifying spot. Edison Lopeman won the regional title with a time of 15:27 for Western.

Division 3 at Ann Arbor Huron: Grass Lake High School was eighth with 162 points. Connor Sherwood finished 16th in 18:05 just missing a state qualifying spot.

Division 3 Qualifiers at Jackson: Lumen Christi and Hanover-Horton qualify as teams along with all seven of their runners. Individual qualifiers are Clint Couchman (16:47) of Columbia Central; and teammates Wyatt Vowell (16:53), Jack Gorton (17:25), and Owen Lambarth (17:29).

Division 4 Qualifiers at Jackson: Concord High School grabbed the third and final team qualifying spot. Individual qualifiers are Diego BoCole (17:42) of Jackson Prep and Dallas Swaenepoel (18:29) of Vandercook Lake.

Girls Cross Country Regionals

Division 1 at Holly: Grace Brown of Jackson secured one of the individual qualifying spots running 20:34 at the Holly regional.

Division 2 Qualifiers at DeWitt: Chloe Khon of Northwest finished 17th earning a state qualifying spot in 20:01.

Division 3 at Ann Arbor Huron: Grass Lake High School finished second to secure a team qualifying spot next week for the MHSAA Division 3 state finals. Adalyn Jarchow was sixth (20:56), and Elise Bullock (21:56), Grace Bullock (22:04), and Makenzie Hilberer (22:06) placed 19th – 21st respectively for Grass Lake.

Division 3 Qualifiers at Jackson: Lumen Christi won the title and garnered the only team qualifying spot for Jackson County schools. Individual qualifiers – besides the seven runners from Lumen Christi – include Maisey Toteff (20:07) of Hanover-Horton and teammate Brynlee Swihart (21:11).

Division 4 Qualifiers at Jackson: Concord High School finished second to earn a team qualifying spot. There were no additional qualifiers from Jackson County in the event.

College Athletic Events

Volleyball

St. Francis 3, Spring Arbor 1: The Cougars fell on the road in volleyball action.

Cross Country

Spring Arbor at NAIA Great Lakes: Spring Arbor University finished third with 178 points on Sunday. Dean Reynolds finished 11th overall in the 8K event in 24:36. Camden Khon was 20th (24:50) and Jacob Singleton was 21st (24:53) for the Cougars. Spring Arbor placed 18th in the women’s event. Shelby Cade of SAU finished 87th in 19:22 in the 5K event.

Men’s Soccer

St. Francis 0, Spring Arbor 0: The two teams tied Saturday on Senior Day at Spring Arbor.

Women’s Soccer

Jackson College 2, Kellogg CC 1: Jackson College advances to the regional tournament where they will be the No. 1 seed. Jill Lester and Franny Parks scored goals for JC. Jackson travels to St. Clair CCC next Saturday at 4 p.m. to play the host school at the regional tournament. The Jets are 10-2-2 overall for the season.

Spring Arbor 4, St. Francis 0: Rachel Tanielian, Lauren Marshall, Annika Arsenault, and Jocelyn Hendricks scored for SAU. Reagan Kohler earned the shutout for SAU (11-3 overall, 6-1 CL).
