Friday Night Football

 Hanover-Horton 42, Addison 0: The Comets earned at least a share of the Cascades Conference western division with the win and remains undefeated at 7-0. Austyn Hocter finished with 135 rushing yards and one score for the Comets. Lukas Nadell, Luke Soper, Ledger Inman, and J.J. Russ also scored for Hanover-Horton. Adam Ley finished with 19 tackles for Hanover-Horton (7-0). Caleb Potts finished with 75 rushing yards for Addison (3-4). The Panthers travel to Vandercook Lake while Hanover-Horton hosts Columbia Central next Friday for a 7 p.m. kickoff.

Leslie 54, East Jackson 14: The Blackhawks earned the Cascades Conference eastern division title with the victory over East Jackson. Joel Cranmore threw for 145 passing yards and three touchdowns for Leslie. (7-0). Jayden Colby ran for a score and caught another offensively for Leslie and intercepted a pass on defense. Xavier Christman had five tackles for Leslie. East Jackson was led by Kayson Lovett with 77 passing yards and one touchdown and Alex Lewin who ran for 139 yards and one score. Bryce Sajdak finished with eight tackles for the Trojans (0-7). East Jackson hosts Napoleon and Leslie hosts Grass Lake next Friday for a 7 p.m. kickoff.

Lumen Christi 35, St. Francis 7: Kadale Williams finished with 186 rushing yards and three scores for the Titans. Timmy Crowley threw for 143 yards and 143 yards. Kash Kalaher finished with 113 receiving yards and one score. Cassius Grifin finished with 12 tackles, Isaac Rehberg added 10 stops, and Sean Walicki tallied nine tackles for Lumen Christi (6-1). Gaylord travels to Lumen Christi Friday for a 7 p.m. kickoff. Gaylord gave the Titans’ its only loss a year ago.

Chelsea 35, Jackson 0: Jackson fell for the third consecutive week after starting the season 4-0. No stats were available for the Southeastern Conference matchup. The Vikings travel to Marine City next Friday for a 7 p.m. kickoff.

Union City 45, Springport 21: Springport suffered its first loss of the season and the Chargers get a leg up on the Big Eight Conference title. Gibson Overweg threw for 265 yards and three touchdowns for the Spartans. Jake Kregel caught two of those touchdown passes for Springport and finished with 78 receiving yards. Bronson travel to Springport next Friday for a 7 p.m. kickoff.

Sand Creek 40, Stockbridge 35: Sand Creek jumped out to a 22-0 lead but the Panthers battled back. Noah Sandecki scored the next three touchdowns for Stockbridge on a 19 and 28 yard runs and a 56-yard pass from Zac Rogozinski. Foster Pybus and Brandon Hamlett both scored for Stockbridge. Rogozinski threw for 199 yards and Sandecki ran for 106 yards for Stockbridge.

Western 44, Northwest 31: Jayden Willis ran for 178 yards, ran for one score, and earned a pick-six for another score for Western. Zayd Coats ran for 76 yards and two scores and D.J. VanRiper caught three passes for 58 yards and one touchdown. Luke Bergkoetter tallied 13 tackles and Denton Broadworth added 10 stops for the Panthers (5-2). No stats were available for Northwest (2-5). The Mounties host Pennfield next Friday while Western faces Haslett in a non-conference battle beginning at 7 p.m.

Grass Lake 54, Manchester 46: One hundred points and a number of school records later, Grass Lake knocked Manchester out of contention in the Cascades Conference eastern division. Brayden Lape threw for 447 yards and seven touchdowns in the game – both school records. Bryant Cook caught four of those touchdowns and Jacob Collins added three scores for Grass Lake. Cook finished with a school-record 15 receptions in the contest for 211 yards. Cook finished with 17 tackles and Collins added 10 stops for Grass Lake (4-3). Manchester is 5-2 overall for the season. Grass Lake, Manchester, Napoleon, and Michigan Center are now tied for second in the conference with 2-2 conference records. Grass Lake travels to Leslie while Manchester goes to Michigan Center for a 7 p.m. kickoff.

Bryant Cook, Grass Lake

Napoleon 60, Michigan Center 38: The Pirates ran for nearly 500 yards on the ground to defeat Michigan Center Friday night. Zavior Skog ran for 202 yards and three touchdowns for Napoleon. Bryce Bailey also ran for 100 yards and one touchdown for Napoleon. Ashton Warner and Zack Bamm finished with six stops each on defense and Brenton Owen had a pick-six for the Pirates. The Pirates are now 4-3 overall while Michigan Center is 3-4. Napoleon travels to East Jackson while Michigan Center hosts Manchester next Friday for a 7 p.m. kickoff.

Jonesville 52, Vandercook Lake 6: John Mills finished with eight carries for 64 yards and two touchdowns. Carson Playford finished with five carries, 102 yards, and one touchdown. Skyler Cooper was 6-for-8 passing for 140 yards and two scores. Defensively, Harper Griffiths finished with seven tackles for Jonesville (4-3 overall, 3-1 conference). Leland Barton scored on a 19-yard run for the Jayhawks. Defensively Dallas Swaenepoel intercepted a pass and Justin Barnes was the leading tackler for VCL (1-6). Jonesville hosts Homer and Vandercook Lake hosts Addison next Friday at 7 p.m.

Clinton 22, Hillsdale 12: Thayden Welch finished with 166 passing yards and two scores for Hillsdale. John Petersen finished with 15 tackles and Miles Brown tallied 10 stops for Hillsdale (0-7). The Hornets travel to Onsted in LCAA play Friday at 7 p.m.

Columbia Central 34, Homer 6: The Golden Eagles won easily on homecoming night at CCHS. No stats were available for the contest. Columbia Central can earn a tie for the Cascades Conference western division title with a win at Hanover-Horton next Friday at 7 p.m. Homer travels to Jonesville Friday for a 7 p.m. kickoff.

  Saturday Sporting Events

 Football

Holgate (OH) 60, Concord 32: The two teams combined for 46 points in the first quarter in the road contest for Concord. The Yellowjackets scored first as Jordan Medellin caught a 17-yard touchdown pass from Gavin Riske. But Holgate scored the next 32 points. Riske scored on a 14-yard run to end the quarter. Riske finished with 246 passing yard and three touchdowns and 97 rushing yards and one score. Nathan Fritz and Tyler Rundle also caught touchdown passes from Riske. Jeff Thomas scored Concord’s last touchdown with a 57-yard run. Concord is now 2-5 on the season and hosts Lenawee Christian next week for a 7 p.m. start on Friday.

Volleyball

Hanover-Horton Invitational:   The host school lost to Tecumseh in the gold division semifinal. Hanover-Horton went undefeated in pool play in the tournaments. Columbia Central won the silver backet defeating Adrian in the semifinals and Northwest in the finals. Cecelia Slat finished with 41 digs, Alison Richardson finished with 28 assists, Mara Henry tallied 34 kills, and Allie Choate recorded five blocks for CCHS.  Western went 2-0-1 in pool play but lost in the playoff round. Bayli Stewart finished with 35 kills and Madi Renovich dished 66 assists for Western.

Concord Invitational: Concord High School finished second to Clinton going 4-1-1 on the day. The Yellowjackets beat Homer and Adrian Madison and split with Clinton in pool play. They defeated Springport in the quarterfinals, Madison in the semifinals, and lost in three sets to Clinton in the finals. Iyla Weeks finished with 90 kills, Annie Saenz tallied seven aces, Bradie Lehman dished 120 assists and 41 digs, and Emma Burbo had 35 digs for Concord (21-7-2).

Boys Cross Country

Lenawee County Invitational: Mitchell Hiatt won the event for Onsted in15:50 but the Wildcats finished second to Adrian. James Bayes of Onsted was fifth (17:25) and teammate Chris Durfey was right behind him (17:29).

Gabriel Richard Invitational: Lumen Christi won the medium schools division, Marshall was fourth, Grass Lake placed 12, Northwest finished 16th, and Napoleon was 18th. Abraham McHugh of Marshall won the event in 15:38, Isaiah Dinverno of Lumen Christi finished second in 15:45, and teammate Leo Swager was fifth (15:59). Sturgis Invitational: Concord High School finished fifth as Paul Herendeen, Maddox Hutchinson, and Keaton Smith all earned medals for the Yellowjackets.

Girls Cross Country

Lenawee County Invitational: Onsted High School won the event with 50 points. Emmry Ross won the race at 18:48 for Onsted and senior Allie England was 10th in 21:43.

Gabriel Richard Invitational: Lumen Christi won the girls’ medium team event with 94 points, Grass Lake was seventh (203), and Napoleon was 16th (390). Samantha Schroeder of Lumen Christi won the event in 18:12 and teammate Macy Fazekas placed fifth in 19:41. Chloe Khon of Northwest was 14th (20:16) and Adalyn Jarchow of Grass Lake was 16th (20:22). Sturgis Invitational: Concord High School was fourth overall in the small school race. Haley Stimer finished sixth and Cieara Barrett was eighth for the Yellowjackets.

College Athletic Events

Volleyball

Indiana Wesleyan 3, Spring Arbor 0: The Cougars were swept at home Saturday afternoon. Kendall Bollenbacher finished with nine kills and Kirstyn Throop had 18 digs for SAU (10-10 overall, 4-7 CL).

Cross Country

Jackson College at Muskegon Invitational: Nathan Blondke finished the 8K run in 30 minutes, 1 second to led Jackson. Noah Blondke finished in 30:23 and Jacob Norman ran 30:54 at Muskegon Community College. In the women’s 5 K event, Jessica Furman ran 24:00, Sheilyn Rayas finished in 27:11, and Sarah Hoop ran 27:20 for the Jets.

Men’s Soccer

Ancilla 2, Jackson College 0: Ancilla scored in the first two minutes of the game and the last two minutes of the half for the win. Jackson College celebrated sophomore day honoring Wyatt Robinson, Jesus Tavera, Zidane Tshibumba, and Antonio Rodriguez. JC (1-9-1) travels to Lakeland CC Wednesday for a 2 p.m. match

Marian 4, Spring Arbor 2: Rood Schnaider scored both goals for Spring Arbor in the road loss. The Cougars are now 8-4-1 overall, 2-1-1 in Crossroads League play.

Women’s Soccer

Marian 3, Spring Arbor 1: Lauren Marshall scored on the only goal for SAU in the home loss. Reagan Kohler finished with four saves in net for Spring Arbor (9-3 overall, 4-1 CL).
