(September 5, 2021 8:33 PM) Consistency paid off for local Jackson anglers this past weekend.

Jack Swihart and Rylan Hamlin won the Michigan Bass Nation Youth Division Anglers of the Year after four rounds of bass fishing tournaments.

Swihart is a sophomore at Lumen Christi Catholic High School and Hamlin is a freshman at Michigan Center High School.

The duo finished in the top nine in all four tournaments this year and finished with 358 points – winning by only six points.

Points are earned based on the weight of the fish.

The duo finished with all 20 bass for the four tournaments and an average weight of just over 3.6 pounds per bass.

They had a large bass of 5.58 pounds and defeated 68 other two-man teams to earn the top prize.

The duo will split $1,800 for the top prize and have qualified for the national tournament in 2022.
