(May 18, 2023 11:45 AM ET) Jackson County High School track and field teams will participate in Michigan High School Athletic Association regional competitions on Friday.
The Division 1 regional with local schools will be at Grand Ledge, Mason will host a Division 2 regional, Hillsdale will host the Division 3 regional with seven local schools, and Concord will host a Division 4 regional.
The top two finishers in each event automatically qualify for the MHSAA state track and field finals June 3. Athletes may also qualify for the state meet by achieving additional qualifying times, distances, or heights.
Here are the specifics for the four regional tournaments involving Jackson County schools.
Division 1 at Grand Ledge, May 19
Battle Creek Central, Battle Creek Lakeview, Brighton, DeWitt, Dexter, East Lansing, Grand Ledge, Harland, Holt, Howell, Jackson, Lansing Everett, Lansing Waverly, Northwest, and Okemos.
Field events start at 2 p.m.; preliminaries at 3 p.m.; finals 5 p.m.
Division 2 at Mason, May 19
Battle Creek Harper Creek, Battle Creek Pennfield, Charlotte, Coldwater, Eaton Rapids, Haslett, Hastings, Ionia, Lake Odessa Lakewood, Lansing Eastern, Lansing Sexton, Marshall, Mason, Portland, St. Johns, and Western.
Pole vault at 2:30; field events 3 p.m.; 3,200-meter 3:30 p.m.; preliminaries at 4 p.m.; finals at 6 p.m.
Division 3 at Hillsdale, May 19
Bronson, Centreville, Columbia Central, Constantine, Galesburg-Augusta, Grass Lake, Hanover-Horton, Hillsdale, Homer, Jonesville, Lumen Christi, Michigan Center, Napoleon, Quincy, Springport, and Union City.
Pole vault at 2 p.m.; field events at 3 p.m.; 3,200-meter runs at 4 p.m.; preliminaries at 4:30 p.m.; finals approximately 6:15 p.m.
Division 4 at Concord, May 19
Battle Creek St. Philip, Bellevue, Climax-Scotts, Concord, Dansville, East Jackson, Jackson Prep, Lansing Christian, Morrice, Portland St. Patrick, Potterville, Vandercook Lake, and Webberville.
Pole vault 2 p.m.; field events 3 p.m.; preliminaries and 3,200-meter final 4 p.m.; finals one hour after preliminaries end.
