(August 23, 2022 7:28 PM) After more than a year of renovations and upgrades, the Jackson County ISD today celebrated the official opening of the swimming pool at the Lyle Torrant Center.

This resource is essential in the therapeutic needs and mobility goals of Lyle Torrant’s special education students. Major renovations to the Torrant pool include:

  • New roof with higher ceilings and windows to bring in natural light
  • New ramp so students can get in and out much easier
  • Updated mechanicals with controls to monitor the pool remotely

The renovated saltwater pool, an important resource for students with special needs, was unveiled during Torrant’s Back to School Open House.  Brief remarks from Torrant Center Principal Amy Rogers and JCISD Superintendent Kevin Oxley were followed by a ribbon-cutting ceremony and tours of the facility.  Photos by Bart Hawley, JTV.
