(June 23, 2024 4:22 PM ET) Cody Lysher won his first Lyle Ambs Memorial Golf Tournament with a 3 & 1 win over Todd Marston in the championship flight final.
Lysher was two up after nine holes and closed out the match on No. 17 at Sharp Park Golf Course.
Marston defeated Zach DeFrain 1 up in the semifinal match to begin the day. Lysher did not have to play a semifinal match after Cannon Risner did not show for the twosome’s tee time Sunday morning.
Lysher said having his sister, Caitlin, on the bag was the difference this weekend.
“Her friendship and loving support went a long way,” Lysher said.
Lysher said it was a different course on Sunday with a lot more wind in the championship match and rain in the morning.
He has now won four majors in Jackson County including two Tournament of Champions, a County Open, and now the Lyle Ambs. Lysher expects to play in the Jackson Masters in August at Calderone Golf Club.
“I have won there (Calderone) a couple of times, so I look forward it,” Lysher said.
Will Double won the first flight championship with a 2 & 1 win over Doug Bevan.
Double defeated Tom Raymond 5 & 4 and Bevan defeated John Gaston 7 & 5 in first flight semifinal matches.
Jim Coutu defeated Brian Strickrodt 4 & 3 for the title in the second flight.
