(November 18, 2022 2:15 PM) Henry Ford Health has announced the appointment of Tim Peterson, M.D., MBA, FACEP, as Henry Ford Allegiance Medical Group’s new Chief Medical Officer (CMO).

As CMO of the Henry Ford Allegiance Medical Group, Dr. Peterson will act as the principal operational leader for the Group, assisting medical director leaders with oversight, mentoring, and monitoring of performance and quality of care. He will also assist with the development and deployment of the Medical Group’s strategic plan and collaboratively work toward enhancing efficiency while delivering high-value, culturally appropriate, patient-centered care. 

Dr. Peterson brings nearly two decades of clinical care and health care leadership experience to the Henry Ford Allegiance Medical Group. Most recently, he held the roles of population health executive and associate professor of emergency medicine at Michigan Medicine where he has been in clinical practice in the Adult Emergency Department. Dr. Peterson also served as board chair and accountable care organization executive for the Physician Organization of Michigan ACO. Previous roles with Michigan Medicine include medical director of population health and interim executive director of home care services.

“Dr. Peterson is a highly qualified health care leader with a background in integrated health system administration and practice. He has extensive experience with large-scale population health strategy and operations as well as value-basedcare initiatives,” said Henry Ford Allegiance Medical Group Chief Executive Officer, Mark Smith, M.D.

Dr. Peterson is board certified in Emergency Medicine, a current fellow of the American College of Emergency Physicians, and he is a board member of both Physician Health Plan and Physician Health Plan Medicare Advantage.

Dr. Peterson received his medical degree from the University of Cincinnati and his MBA from the University of Michigan. He completed his residency in emergency medicine at the University of Michigan/St. Joseph Mercy Hospital and completed a health care policy fellowship at the Center for Healthcare Research and Transformation in Ann Arbor, MI. Dr. Peterson is a Miami University graduate with concentrations in microbiology, and management and organizational behavior.
