(8-19-2024, 12:00PM): The last two seasons for Napoleon have been the best since 2016. Despite losing a very heavy and historic senior class, Napoleon still remains with the same goals as a young team.
Napoleon finished 9-2 in 2023, winning the Cascades Conference East division. But was one of two local teams to fall to Lumen Christi in the playoffs. Napoleon has made the playoffs 3 of the last 4 seasons.
Head Coach Derek Shell is returning for his 7th season at the helm for the Pirates.
Tom Johns also returns as the defensive coordinator. “He has orchestrated one of the best defenses Napoleon has seen the last two seasons. He is an integral part of the program as a culture guy, X&Os, and as a mentor for fellow coaches” said HC Shell of Johns.
Returning players for Napoleon include seniors Dallas Smith (TE/DL), Zach Bamm (G/LB), Jamarcus Goodloe (C/DL), Quin Odegard (G), and Gunnyr Ivseon (TE) along with sophomore Ashton Warner (RB/LB).
Newcomers expected to make an impact include new starting quarterback sophomore Issac Carofino, sophomores Marcello Flores (RB/LB), Zavior Skog (RB/CB), Jayden Servis (RB/S), and senior Carson Lovett (RT/DL).
Napoleon has made a key addition to its coaching staff for 2024. Former star RB from the 2022 semifinal team Bart Laretz is now the Pirates’ linebackers coach.
The primary focus for fall camp and the 2024 season is settling into the offense and developing the younger skills guys in the offense and defensive secondary for the Pirates.
Coach Derek Shell: “We want to establish the fact that Napoleon Football is here to stay. We have built a culture of playing smash mouth physical football that will allow us to stay competitive year in and year out”.
