(August 7, 2020 10:09 PM) Western High School golfer Sydnie Redovich used a little home cooking to score a win at the R.W. Mercer Jackson Junior Golf Tour event at Arbor Hills Golf Club on Friday.

She shot an 83 at the ninth Mercer event of the season. Redovich earned her first R.W. Mercer flag of the season with the win.

Kamryn Shannon of Michigan Center was second in the girls’ 16 and up with an 84 and Amanda Melling was third with an 86.

Cannon Risner of Leslie took the top prize in the boys’ 17/18 division with a 2-under-par 70. Justin Bunch of Jackson High School shot a 73 and Garrett Ramos was third with a 77.

Other winners in age brackets included: Sam Swihart shot a 38 in the boys’ 10-under nine-hole event; Wesley Learned finished with a 45 in the boys’ 11-13 nine-hole category; Charlie Saunders shot a 78 in the boys’ 13-14 18-hole contest; Colin Norton won the 15/16 age bracket with a 75; Tylar Southwell won the girls’ 12-under nine-hole event with a 54; Morgan LeFaive won the girls’ 13-up nine-hole contest with a 43; and Logan Bentley scored a win in the girls’ 13-15 18-hole event with an 88.

Play will conclude for the season on Sunday, Aug. 16, at the Country Club of Jackson.

Clark Lake event: Colin Norton led all golfers with a 3-under-par 70 at Clark Lake Golf Course on Monday during the R.W. Mercer Jackson Junior Golf Tour event. He won the boys’ 15/16 age bracket with the score. Other bracket winners were: Sam Swihart won the boy’s 10-under nine-hole competition with a 46; Andrew Parrott won the boys’ 11-13 age bracket nine-hole event carding a 40; in the boys’ 13/14 age bracket Charlie Saunders won the 18-hole event with an 87; and Cannon Risner won the boys’ 17/18 age bracket in the 18-hole event with a 74. In the girls’ event, Jailyn Bruneel won the 12-under nine-hole event with a 51; Lauren Langston won the 13-up nine-hole event with a 49; Logan Bentley took first place in the girls’ 13-15 age bracket 18-hole event with a 104; and Baylee Carlisle won the girls’ 16-up 18-hole event with an 84.
