(July 19, 2021 5:36 PM) The summer of Syd continued Monday on the golf course in Jackson.  

Western High School golfer Sydnie Redovich won the City Junior Championship in girls’ golf at Sharp Park Golf Course. The City Junior Championship and the R.W. Mercer Jackson Junior Golf Tour combined for a one-day medal tournament on Monday. 

Nearly 100 golfers competed in the one-day tournament. 

Redovich shot 76 to edge Kamryn Shannon by two strokes. Olivia Ohmer finished third with 81 and Sydney Cramer shot 84 for fourth place. 

The Western senior golfer earlier won the Jackson County Open in June at Cascades Golf Course.

Cannon Risner shot a 2-under par 69 at Sharp Park to win the boys’ City Junior Championship by a stroke over Evan Brzyski. Kyler Rod finished third in the boys’ aged 17/18 bracket with a 77 and Ethan Johnson finished with a 79 for fourth place. 

Colin Norton finished with the third best score of the day with a 71 to win the boys’ 15/16 bracket. Bentley Coon finished second in the age category with a 78, and Zach Johnson and Ryder Pickering tied for third with 79s. 

Other winners were Brodie Gregory who won the boys’ 14-up nine-hole event with a 47; Charlie Saunders took first in the boys’ 13/14 age group for 18 holes with a 78; Maden Brady, Luke DuMont, and Brandon Kulka tied for first in the boys’ 11-13 age bracket for nine holes with 40s; Maddox Mulnix won the boys’ 10-under for nine holes with a 36; Abby Russell won the girls’ nine-hole event with a 64; and Jacey Mercle won the girls’ 13-15 18-hole event with an 87. 

The Mercer Tour continues July 28 at Calderone Golf Club.
