Four Michigan Manufacturing Councils and American Rosie the Riveter Association Willow Run Chapter invite the public to attend Rosie the Riveter Day on March 21, 2024 on the lawn of the State Capitol. This event pays homage to women who served during World War II and celebrates the ongoing contributions of women in the workforce.
Rosie the Riveter emerged as a cultural icon, symbolizing millions of women who entered the workforce to support the war effort while men were serving overseas. These women took on industrial jobs, including riveting, welding, and manufacturing, traditionally held by men.
The celebration promises to be a memorable occasion, featuring activities for all ages. Attendees are encouraged to dress up as Rosie the Riveter or wear denim. Event planners hope to have Rosies, five generations of women in the workplace, girl scouts, robotics teams, K12 students, families and community members take part.
