(June 3, 2024 12:55 PM ET) The round of 16 has been set for the Jackson City Golf Championship after play on Sunday.
Players will take Monday off and resume play Tuesday or Wednesday at the Country Club of Jackson in the match play tournament.
Defending champion Brian Coon defeated Adam Walker 6 & 5 while Cody Lysher beat Brian Carney 2 & 1. Coon and Lysher will meet in the second round.
Zach DeFrain defeated Chris Chaney 4 & 3 and faces Spring Arbor University golfer Brett Casto after a 5 & 3 win over David McDevitt.
Brad McEldowney defeated Colton Brennan in the opening round 7 & 5 and Matt Robbins defeated Richard Horodecki. McEldowney and Robbins face off in the next round.
Spring Thaw winner Bret Valkuchak defeated Mike Raymond 4 & 3 and faces Greg Zeller in the next round following a 1 up win by Zeller in 19 holes over Tim Pickering.
City Championship medalist Nick Reynolds defeated Colin Norton 5 & 4 and Trevor Raymond defeated Mike Brockie 2 & 1. Reynolds and Raymond will play in the round of 16.
Doug Bevan defeated Luke Girodat 2 & 1 and faces Tom Fleming in the next round as Fleming defeated David Mickle 1 up.
Three seed Conor Spencer defeated Alex Harris 5 & 4 and Rob Longbrake defeated Jason Norris 1 up in opening round action. Spencer and Longbrake face off in the next round.
Mike Boldt will face Riley Hestwood in the round of 16 following Boldt’s 3 & 2 win over John Tarpley and Hestwood’s 6 & 5 win over Brogan Brockie.
Round of 16 matches will be completed by Wednesday, quarterfinals are Thursday, the semifinal are set for Friday, and the 36-hole final is scheduled for Saturday at the Country Club of Jackson.
