Michigan U.S. Senator Debbie Stabenow will be continuing her small business tour across the state and meet with small business owners in Jackson today, August 25th.  The senator will attend a small business kick-off briefing with community officials at CP Federal Credit Union.
The senator is set to be in the city at 3 p.m. in the second floor boardroom of CP Federal Credit Union, 1100 Clinton Road.  CP Federal Credit Union has contributed $100,000 toward the Glidden Parker Mural Project with another announcement on funding proposals scheduled Thursday afternoon.
The briefing will highlight a federal $50,000 National Endowment for the Arts award for the Glidden Parker Mural project.  Representatives from the Jackson Public Arts Commission, Weatherwax Foundation, Dawn Foods Foundation, Phil & Pat Willis Foundation and Experience Jackson will also be at the meeting Thursday afternoon, which is not open to the public.
Stabenow’s small business tour has also included stops in Monroe, the Great Lakes Bay region, West Michigan, the Upper Peninsula and Northern Michigan.  According the the U.S. Small Business Administration, Michigan’s small businesses employed over half, or 1.8 million, of the state’s private workforce.
Before the briefing at CP Federal Credit Union, Senator Stabenow will be a guest on JTV’s The Bart Hawley Show at 2:30pm.  Later, her tour will include stops in downtown Jackson:  The Grand River Brewery at 3:35pm, Chilango’s at 3:55pm and the new (under construction) Gilbert’s Chocolates on North Jackson Street.
