(August 10, 2020 6:04 PM)  The National Weather Service has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Watch for much of southern lower Michigan, including Jackson County.  Severe thunderstorms capable of producing wind gusts over 70 mph  are possible this evening. The greatest threat will be south of  the I-96 corridor. Wind damage to trees and structures is possible. Power outages are also a concern.  The Severe Thunderstorm Watch is in effect until 12 AM.

Consumers Energy issued a statement this afternoon, anticipating severe weather:

“According to the National Weather Service, damaging wind gusts up to 60 mph are expected in your area this evening.

With the most severe storms targeting the southwest portion of the state, incoming weather conditions could result in power outages, downed wires and other safety hazards. We are mobilizing resources to quickly respond to any service interruptions.
